Personal Narrative Essay: Whooped !

Whooped!!! In the hot, scorching summer of 2009, probably somewhere towards the end of May, I was nine years old and just finishing my 4th grade year. I was headed to Rockford, Illinois, which is about an hour and a half away from Chicago to stay with my Aunt Cookie and Uncle Curtis for the summer to work with my cousins, Myles and Malcolm, at my uncle’s business, H.C. Anderson Roofing. My cousins and I were supposed to do all the maintenance work at the shop. We washed cars, organized screws (which I hated doing), took out the trash in the office, swept the garage out, stacked the wood, etc... I had been there for about two weeks when another cousin, QJ, came up to stay and work or the summer, but he barely did anything. He just sat and watched while my other cousins and I did all the work. He would always agitate and irritate my cousins and me daily because he always wanted to fight somebody, but we would never fight him …show more content…
His behavior was so bad he even included cussing out my aunt and all of us and trying to fight Malcolm, which i’m gonna be honest was pretty funny if you were there to witness it. The SECOND time QJ lost his mind was when my cousins Malcolm, Myles, Corey, QJ, and I were all wrestling outside in the hot sun, somewhere at the beginning of June. Anyway, it was me versus Myles, and Malcolm versus QJ, then whoever won in those matches would go against my cousin Corey who at the time was a wrestler in college. I think I lost my match to Myles and was sitting off to the side watching Malcolm and QJ wrestle each other. They were going at it, moving back and forth, trying to get each other to the ground. Next, I watched QJ body slam Malcolm to the ground and then for some reason punched him in the face. As soon as Malcolm tried to throw a punch back, Corey ran into the house to grab his belt from his room in the basement, ran back outside and whipped

He went on to explain the details. "I never thought that the producers were going to have to jump in. For me, I think it was after the second episode when I told him to stop cutting people off and he put his finger an inch away from my face and was telling me he was going to knock out my teeth, and when no one actually stepped in during that type of confrontation, I kind of figured, alright we're on our own here. They're going to let things roll and let everything fall into the place that they will, and if it gets out of control, maybe they'll jump in. But you pretty much have someone saying he's going to punch me in the face and knock out my teeth and no one came over and stopped that, so at that point, you're just like, this is real.…

Wayne remembered Ron telling him to stay quiet during the match and in general, since he lives in an apartment complex and the people beneath him like to complain a lot. Once the match began, it had been a steady, back and forth type of match until the middle of the fight. There was no significant lead from one person over the other.
