Narrative Essay About Thanksgiving

Mom wakes up early starts making yummy home made crescent rolls. Which I love making every year now at Thanksgiving and Christmas. While the rolls are raising which takes two hours. She stuffs the turkey and starts cooking it. Later she makes mash potato's, green beans, cream corn and bakes the rolls. Mom takes a break while food cooks. We all just talk or watch movies and play games. It’s the best day to make an excuse to stuff your face. We usually eat around two in the afternoon so we can take a long nap afterword. My mom will do the dishes since we use her nice china, she doesn't want anyone to break it. Later we have dessert, can't forget the pies. We have pumpkin, pecan, and chocolate. I could gobble up the chocolate one by myself. It is my FAVORITE! MMM! Just thinking about this make's me excited for this years Thanksgiving my whole family on my side will be getting together. …show more content…
My husband is the cook and is a pretty darn great one. He loves to cook honey bake ham instead of turkey. We do the basic mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. I make the yummy home made rolls. We invite his grandma, she always brings a store bought key lime pie. We just enjoy each other company and watch the Christmas story. We take my husband grandma back home. Shes older so she usually will only come for the meal. I do the dishes. My favorite thing to do next is take a long nap. I usually end up working thanksgiving which I don't mind most of the time. Of course I'd rather be at home with my own family. Makes me think some of those I care for don't have family to spend the holidays

As we enter into December, it is difficult to believe that our school year is almost half-way over. Each day is a new adventure and our students have learned so much. Our recent field trip to Honey Horn Plantation taught us about the history and process of making Indigo dye, how archaeologists dig for historical artifacts, and the art of leaf printmaking. In class, we have continued with our reading groups and have begun more actively cultivating our writing skills. New math and language concepts are being introduced daily and our students are learning to challenge themselves as they begin to take ownership of their education.…

Myself, leading the busy life of a full time college student miss the times I had cooking with my family and no surprise, I watch cooking shows in my spare time. Everyone wishes they could come together every night for a home cooked meal like the ones presented on these shows. What sane person doesn’t? “So cooking matters - a lot, which, when you think about it, should come as no surprise”, writes Michael Pollan, Author of “The Cooking Animal” (Pollan 106). Its not that we enjoy slaving in a hot kitchen for two or more hours, its the simple fact that shared meals provide a catalyst for families to come together, relax and connect with one another, which makes all of the hard work worth it.…

My grandmas has a rather small house but we all fit, only if the kids are playing outside, the men are…

My family is loud, crazy and not afraid to voice their opinions so there is always drama at every dinner or family event. I chose to write on this because I never payed attention to detail or interactions at these dinners like why the women cook? Or why it is important that we are all together.…

Christmas is not only a day of sharing presents and celebrating with family and friends, but also a week of joy. The exciting days leading up to christmas to the aftereffects of happiness that result from the carols of Christmas prove that December 25th is a very special holiday. Christmas to me means spending and sharing time and the moments with each other and it also celebrates the birth of Jesus. The gifts and the food are amazing, but the main point of Christmas is to celebrate the nativity of Christ. As the holidays come closing in, our family prepares for this season by hanging up Christmas trees, hanging lights throughout the house, buying gifts for loved ones and relatives, and preparing for the Christmas tradition that comes around…

Another tradition is that every year since before I was even born we have gone on a family vacation. That family vacation consists of my family, my grandma Heary, grandma Schneider, my moms brother, my moms sister and her family, and also our other relatives from the Schneider side. Our favorite place to go on vacation is Sandbridge, VA.
