The first routine was pretty easy, since it was mostly intended for the younger kids to try. The second song was harder, incorporating more advanced moves, yet still fairly simple. The next song was the counselor's song, in which the two teachers would perform a challenging dance together, while the students would be preparing for the next songs. The last song would be the most challenging. It was extremely quick, and you are twirling to the point where your fingers looked like they were meant to be twirled in all directions. During the class periods, we would practice all of the songs nonstop, in the hot enclosed room, where everyone would practice until we would drown in our own sweat. The day of the show appeared right in front of me, startling me with how fast the day arrived. The kids started to settle into the seats in front of us, where they would patiently wait for the acts to begin. One by one, the performers would begin their act, ending with a round of applause and a quick trip back to their seats. When the announcer called our name, I was reluctant to stand in front of the crowd, although I knew I was ready. The music started playing and my heart started beating at 100 miles per hour. By the time I knew it, the first song faded into the second, and I realized that performing was not so bad, after all. The second song flowed smoothly, everyone was gracefully dancing to the beat and twirling their batons with a quick motion. When the two teachers went up to dance, that’s when I felt confident in myself. I danced to two other songs without a problem, so I could definitely perform the last one with ease. Finally, the last song fades in, and everyone lines up in a formation. There were batons flying simultaneously in the air, everyone catching and tossing the batons to the ceiling. When the final note played, the only sound I heard was my heavy breathing, followed by a roar of applause. At that time all I could do was
