Personal Narrative: The Day Of Weekly Spelling Test

Improved Essays
Today is the day, the day of our weekly spelling test. This is the one i've been preparing for the past 3 days, the words are stuck in my head like glue. It's so important that i even had my mom quiz me last night. I walk into the classroom and take my original seat in the back with my table group of 5. Once situated in my seat i sit my closed folder under my desk and small talk with my table on how we are all so prepared for the spelling test we were about to get handed to us in a few short minutes.

After a short lecture from our teacher about having our desk clear and to have a pencil ready she tells us to get out a piece of paper and write our first and last name in the top right corner. I did as told and i am now ready to begin, although i'm feeling kind of tired i shake of the feeling and blink a few times. She said the first word, i write it down confidently and sit my head on my desk, i repeat that until the 7th or 8th word; when i looked up from my desk i see a yellow piece of paper, only paper that color is an office referral. I look up at my teacher highly confused and she tells my to hand her my folder i sat

I was just laying my head down” i guess that wasn't good enough because all i got was a head shake and that yellow slip handed back to me with the red bolded word “APPROVED” stamped in the bottom right corner of the paper. Its coming back, the tears; they wont stop as i get up out of the once comfortable red cushioned seat and walk to the door. Walking to the classroom seemed to be a faster trip than it was earlier because i am now back in my original seat in the back of the classroom in my group of 5. Looking down on my desk i see my paper, my spelling test paper with the number 0 circled in the middle of the paper with a red marker. I can't forget that i also see that yellow paper too, with the bolded red “APPROVED” stamped in the bottom right

The hardest thing I’ve ever went through? Let me take you back to almost three years ago to a very cold Thursday morning in January. I was sitting in history class when suddenly something very strange happened; the announcement speakers came on. To most people it would seem like it was a very typical day to day event to listen to announcements; but at my school announcements were rarely ever said. My classroom got completely silent; to the point where you could have heard a pin drop.…

Samantha, I gotta disagree, see there's a difference in pointing out a spelling mistake, and just being rather rude to a person, over something petty. Instead of simply letting her know with poise, you told her to grab a dictionary, and acted as if her point was then invalid, which it isn't. The dictionary you mentioned earlier would also help you! Then, maybe, you can learn what a comma is and how to use…

When I was in elementary and middle school I didn't really have a subject preference. I was just okay at every subject and I couldn't find myself interested in anything particular. I didn't feel lost because I had plenty of time to decide what I wanted for myself that would make me happy. After a certain point in my life though, I have always had a preference for English, a preference that I didn't act on until recently.…

As I looked around at my new classmates on my first day of public school, I was in complete shock. All around me I saw students who did not care in the slightest about their education and who saw school as simply a chore instead of an adventure. They slumped down in their chairs, cheated off of each other left and right, rolled their eyes at teachers, and spent each day watching the clock, waiting for the bell to ring that would released from their “prison.” That August morning, I felt like I was in a completely different world: one where I did not belong.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

That Day in Fourth Grade “People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something you must learn, and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return. -Glinda” One of my best friends today, Teonna Frye, has influenced a lot of the choices that have made me into who I am today. I first met her as a “not-so-little,” brown-haired fourth grader. She was a giant that towered over all the kids in our grade.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…
