“Somethings are More Fun Than Expected” A moment that has changed my life was when I learned how to ski. I had been being harped on forever to try it. Skiing can be breathe taking, nerve racking, and fun all at the same time. For several years I have wanted to try it but deep down I was always way to nervous. Finally, I told myself you have to try it to know if you're going to like it. The day has finally come!
I went running to my mom
"The next time we are at Cuba Lake I'm going to ski."
"Okay you can do it." She said
Fourth of July finally came that day I knew I was going to get the opportunity to ski.
"We are going out on the boat if anyone would like to join."

I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time I was on the water.

I said
"Okay!"
Said my uncle
"Make sure your balanced."
Said my aunt
"You can do this!"
Shouted my mom.
"Ready here we go!"
Yelled my uncle. As I pulled up on the rope and got balanced I had done it.
"Yayyyy!"
Shouts everyone from the boat
"I told you."
Says my aunt
"confidence is the key."
Shouts Brooke
I thought to myself I had finally done it I had reached my goal. As the sun began to set we finally took the boat back in.
"What a great day!"
Says my grandma and grandpa
"sure was!"
I said with a great big smile on my face. After all I realized how much fun something can be. I especially learned never to get so nervous over something so fun.
"So proud of you!"
Says my aunt
"Thank you!"
The rest of the night was so much fun with my family! This is the night I had learned how to

It was one of those memories sitting in my brain, gathering dust. However, it was also that memory that would come to define an important aspect of me: persistence. When I was in fourth grade, I had volunteered at the 2006 San Francisco Marathon with my mother and brother. All I did was hand cups of water to the people that passed by and stand mesmerized by the sheer number of runners. However, within a few hours, my young self quickly grew bored, and the marathon went from interesting to tedious.…

Back in the gang I was fourteen years old when I saw the perfect image and decided to back out. I was about to break into the Jamesons house. Back in the rich neighborhood, back in the gang, back before everything changed. We rode up to Fall Creek, the neighborhood. After driving through the big, confusing, dark neighborhood at night we found a house with a black plaque that said, ‘Welcome to the Jameson’s’ Jacob, Tyler, Ra’shawn, Andrew, and I walked to the back of the gray house.…

As we drove away, I looked back with tears in my eyes and pain deep down in my heart. I knew that where we were going was far away from my hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada. I never thought that I would be feeling this kind of anguish as a 6-year old. Since that day I haven’t seen or spoken to my dad, nor do I want to. Moving away changed my life and it made me the person I am today.…

I guess the moral of the story is it’s a small world and I’ve been a bumpy roller coaster that I unknowingly took a lot of good people on, but I’ve tore it down. I know now you’ve been flying above watching the whole time waiting for me to get to the right place and hop off though. You tried to get me there once and I stumbled because I didn’t have to tools or strength, I was put in a padded room surrounded my everyone from family friends to coworkers and strangers (its not paranoia). Once you saw I was poking the glass and I saw an opportunity for a job I wanted I’d get it together just needed the correct tools and asked for them you threw Home Depot and Lowes at me and I grabbed what I needed to seal the deal and looking back it has been…

Amazingly, it felt like we were looking at hundreds of other 14ers that still had snow on them. Soon we had to climb down with the wind blowing like crazy. “They say that college is where you find yourself, but I feel more lost than ever.” Although this may be true, I began to think I was looking for something to blame. This quote replayed in my head, as I walked out of the counselor's office with both my parents along my side as I felt the vibe of their uncertainty with my decision to go back. Before it gets good, it gets more boring. Summer had started and it’s been a year since I’ve been to college.…

Volunteering at The Salvation Army I realized this was my chance to make a difference. When people hear that a person is “homeless,” I’m sure the first thing that comes to mind is a bum, dirty clothes, a drug addict, and a drunk. However, that is not the case at all. Living in times like these, recession plays a huge role on unemployment rates which eventually leads to homelessness. Not only that but natural disasters like Hurricane Sandy, left thousands of people homeless in New York.…
