One big decision was made off of one small occurrence. That happens all the time in skateboarding, and that is falling. It happens a lot and it’s hard to stop. It doesn’t feel good, you can leave walking fine or walking bleeding with future scars, little did I know that a fall was going to end it all. It started in July of 2012, the last time I stepped foot on a skateboard.
“Mom I’m going to go to Spencer’s place and then we're going to go skateboarding.” I yelled. “That’s fine, and have fun,” She yelled back to me. I hopped on my skateboard and for the next half mile to his house all I thought about was how good it felt to be in the heat and skating. The ride didn’t take long, only about five minutes. We started to walk the 15 minute walk which started to feel miserable because the heat on the fresh wounds hurt and bending the ones on my knees hurt, all together it was probably one of the most miserable times walking I’ve ever had. Out of what I can remember this is one of the most painful things to ever happen to me.
After our walk back to my house and I showed my mom she didn’t react as well as I had hoped, she always thought that skateboarding would leave me hurt but I never really believed her, I have gotten cuts before but nothing this bad. Thankfully she still cleaned off my wounds which stung so badly. Spencer and I were going to wait until my wounds healed to try skating again which was only about 4 days before they were less sore and were bearable again. We tried to skate but really all I could think about was falling again and getting hurt, I didn’t want to get hurt so after skating for the day I told Spencer. “I don’t think that I will be skating anymore, I’m too worried about falling and hurting myself that it’s distracting me. If I won’t be skating you can at least have all of my skating things like my board and things.” I said kind of embarrassed that I let this fall get the better of
