As my alarm goes on I slowly wake up thinking about the day that is ahead me, how different is from my roommate, the boy that lives next to me, and even my best friend in Mexico city, I might not do anything excited but is something defilingly different from anyone at UNH. This is a normal day in UNH in the life of a 20 year old Mexican woman. I stand up ready to do my make up, and choose what close Im gonna wear, that is the first thing I do.

I felt uncomfortable putting myself in a situation in which Im not a majority and I face racism because of something I cant change like the color of my skin and my genes. I think something positive is that I would be more educated about race, but my day was pretty similar I would still like the same tv shows, my mayor would still be the same, my style etc. I think the color of our skin does define who we are, our race gives us privileges and disadvantages and because of this we have to learn how to act to certain things, I think to say someone like something or act a certain way because of their race is incorrect but I do believe people act a certain way because of experience tho their life, and I also believe everyone experience the same scenario different because of their race. In Peggy McIntosh essay “the silences and denials surrounding privilege?” he talks about “the silences and denials surrounding privilege?” I do believe white people have a privilege they don 't want to talk about, because acknowling this privilege means to change this privilege because is not fair. But the had this privilege for years now and they call it different names like slavery, the help , gang members etc. its oppression, they want to see whats different to them as the enemy and they are only taking care of themselves. “white privilege that was similarly denied and protected “ -Peggy McIntosh.
