That night, everything happened. The lights came blazing and the world went dark.
It was that night.
I remember 3 hours earlier I was kissing Jane off good-bye. She had just made her famous chicken curry for dinner and for dessert she made her grandma’s classic mixed berry pie with creamy custard for desert. I had come home from a long day of work and it was such a joyus occasion as I just got a promotion for my job. Jane and I got settled into dinner and were talking about the future, our kids, our house… That’s when she announced she was pregnant. It was a day of treats and happiness. We finished up dinner two hours later and we had a bubble fight. It started with her having a bubble on her cute nose, then I accidentally smeared …show more content…
It meant that I didn’t have to go back to pain. I blinked and I saw everything. I saw the car, the street, my body.. I saw it all. I replayed the scene over and over in my mind and each time I imagine my corpse lying silently, amidst no worries. I screamed, I yelled but no-one could here me. It took hours for any body to even glance at my carwreck, meanwhile Jane became paranoid about my absence. I saw her sat anxiously by the dinner table with sweaty palms and furrowed brows. By then, I was gone for hours. Phone in hand, she distraughtly dialled the police and reported the scene. During the following day, after multiple hours of searching, they found the crumpled metal of which I was mangled in. Oh the way Jane felt after she heard the news. I remember how she picked up the phone. Trembling, her fingers slide round her phone as she listened to what the police had to say. After the word dead was mentioned, her knees weighed heavy and gave way as she dropped down, like she was shot. Even as a ghost, you would think you wouldn’t feel anything but man, when she dropped, I felt as though I was being weighed down. Her emptiness filled the room and seemed to have sucked up my energy along with it. Not a single tear had fallen. She was too tired and the pain was too much that she couldn’t. Not even one single drop. Jane layed there for hours, staring aimlessly at the wall as she …show more content…
Curious, she went to look when she discovered that it was her late grandmother’s book that she left behind. Her exact words when she passed the book to her were “The words in this book will foresee the future, good luck my dear.” And that’s when she died. As she opened the book, I found bare and naked pages staring right at her. From her perspective, it glowed and words with golden ink shone, illuminating the room. She wrote it in an ink that only the gifted in her family could see. The book seemed to lead her to a trance to the small chapel behind our house. In their, ancient latin was engraved in the walls, staring right back at her as she walked in. When I attempted to step inside, I was immediately flicked back at our house and slide down the wall. It seemed like there was a barrier to the supernatural. I managed to position myself at an angle where I can view Jane in case of any harm. She seemed to be murmur the writings on the wall. She was trying to understand, but the more she read, the more she felt that her body was being taken over. Her mind seemed to confuse itself and she couldn’t seem to remember why she was there or who she was. She tried, and tried and tried, but it felt like a battle. Jane belted out, “Provisus” and everything stopped. She remembered. But she lost her power to read and understand anything, it seemed like she lost all hope to live any more if she can’t
