Narrative Essay About My Hair

This was especially true during middle school. Back then, I had a difficult time trying to learn how to manage my curly hair. During this period of time I felt as if I had disadvantage because it made it hard to fit in with the other girls in my class. I was envious of their straight hair, a total opposite from my thick, curly, frizzy hair! The girls would feel like harassing me for my “bird’s nest” was the thing to do the entire year. It got to the point where I started to loathe my natural hair and so when I discovered the hair straightener, it was as if God finally answered my prayers. I straightened my hair every single day, and ignored the consequences. Constantly applying heat to my hair destroyed my curly locks and caused my hair to fall out. It wasn’t until I got to high school that someone said to me, “If you hate your hair, then everyone else will hate it too.” As a curly haired girl, I’ve learned so much about how to take care of my curls.
