Personal Narrative: My Sister Mandy

Improved Essays
My Sister Mandy I have many people in my family that has been in the Military. My grandfather was in the Marines and he held a very high position, however he doesn’t like to talk about it much. My younger brother also was in the Army “special forces” he enlisted the same time my sister did, but he is unwilling to talk about his experiences as well. It makes a person wonder what horrible things that they have encountered to make them want to bottle things inside and not speak a word about them. I decided to wright about my sister Mandy because she is an open book and will talk to you about anything, however this took and some therapy.

If I could be any person for a day in their life I would choose my older sister Simone Boucher. Simone was born with Down Syndrome, a disability that results from an extra copy of the 21st chromosome, and delays a person’s cognitive, physical and social skills. People often remark that my sister is “very high functioning” and that her disability doesn’t stop her from achieving amazing things. In just a couple of hours, I could learn so much from her perseverance and determination. Simone has a harder time with daily activities that I take for granted, such as tying her shoes, making her bed or riding her bike.…
