About three months after we got back, my mom had to go back to any state of the United States to check that her tumor had not come back. Of course she chose New Jersey, she left for a week and came back engage. My mom had made the decision to move to the United States in the next two months. I was upset to leave the country where I was raised, but at the same time my mom deserved someone good to be with. On July 2, 2005, my mom and I officially moved to America, 11 days before my ninth birthday. I guess I can be the one to blame for this enormous move since I was the one who made my mom go to New Jersey for vacation, where she meet her new fiancé. We move to a town call Paterson, which was completely different from what I was used to. There were gangs everywhere, graffiti, a lot of violence, and the houses were scary looking. I am not trying to be judgmental, but for an eight year old who is used to nice brick houses and quiet streets, this was a major culture shock. I immediately started school and I attended school #5. My first year of school was not hard, since I went to a class for kids whose first language was Spanish. That year I did not learn any English and my mom decided to put me in an all English speaking school.
