My Definition Of Love Essay

¨And love is not a victory march, It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah.¨ I want to meet Leonard Cohen. I want to ask him why love broke him. I want to know why it froze him. His words intrigue me. And they have resonated as anthems for numerous people throughout the last few decades.
I have heard of the differences in the types of love but mainly I think people would agree love is either romantic or platonic. But do people really know the definition of love? Do I even truly know the definition? Is there a scripted definition? Over the course of my seventeen years I have heard of others experiences with romantic or platonic love, and I have had experiences of mine own. It has taken many turns, some sharp and some gentle. Some of my favorite turns have led me into other countries and into the presence of those who live there. I became consciously aware of my desire to understand love on my return from a lovely, heart wrenching nine days in Bayamo, Cuba. It is a fire. A fire that consumes every barrier it meets. Because of this lady I know it can go through even the barriers of language and sight. When I left the compound I still saw a lady who would never physically see me. I still saw a lady who would never physically hear me. But now I see a lady who loves. She proved me wrong. She proved that love makes it possible for her to see me and to hear me. She proved that love can truly be a constant companion through every turn life takes. Love is persistent through every situation that occurs. Love is durable. And it truly knows no barriers.
