For example, since Crooks is of African descent, he is considered inferior to the others and is forced to live away from everyone else and he shares with Lennie “I aint wanted in the bunk house cause I am black” (68). Way back in the 6th grade, I didn't have many friends. We all have those awkward years in our lives, and this was most definitely the beginning of mine. While sitting reading a book in the hallway of the Alton, Middle School before school a girl came by. This girl stopped, looked at what I was reading, and said, "Hey I just finished reading that book it's really good!" This small gesture, was the beginning of a beautiful friendship that I will cherish for the rest of my life.…

Sponagle knows all too well how difficult it is to end a relationship with someone that you love and care about. She grew up in a home with a father that wasn’t there for her. Although, deep down, she knew her father had to love her, she felt as if she was completely invisible to him. This took a major tole on her emotionally, which led her to make some life-changing decisions.…

As we learned in the all-time cult favorite “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” starring Kate Hudson, there are many ways to “lose a guy”, or ruin any relationship for that matter. In this particular movie, Hudson does an experiment on how to ruin a relationship for her advice column. Watching this movie when I was younger, it made me laugh at all of her silly antics. Then as I grew older I realized there was a lot of truth to her “rules”. Although I learned a lot on how to “lose a guy”, I’m here to tell you how to NOT lose a guy (or girl/whatever your preference is).…

The TV series I will be speaking of that shows most of the sociological concepts is the show “Friends”. This show shows most of the sociological concepts that we have learned in class for example the show has groups and organizations, deviance, sex and gender, and socialization/social interaction. To give brief summary of what the show is about is literally about 6 friends and their everyday lives dealing with their everyday struggles and different experiences. In the show the 6 friends names are Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, and Joey, each of them or at least most of them are great examples to some of the sociological concepts we have learned this semester. The first sociological concept I noticed in the show was…

Moving here from North Carolina when I was four changed my life completely, I was away from my family who I lived with my whole life, thrown into a school with a bunch of kids who lived here since they were born and told to “make friends.” This changed the next 13 years of my life to something I can never picture not having. The first four years, both my parents had full time jobs and my grandma helped raise me a lot, she taught me so many manners and how to behave, she even ended up living across the street from me for 2 of those years, they were rough for my parents, new baby, just moving, having to find jobs, making friends, and getting food on the table for me. Thats where my amazing family came in, with bringing home cooked meals…

The greatest story ever told about one’s self is one of pure transparency and honesty. I can say that in my twenty-four years of living, I could never have foreseen experiences and obstacles I would have had to overcome. Summer of 1998, I traveled for the first time on a plane to the United States. My fathers side of the family had already left the country years prior to get settled and get affairs in order for us who were still back in Haiti. Bright eyed, six year-old from Haiti, I had no idea the plans God had in store for me.…

Let your story be told, if you will not tell it who will?
