Narrative Essay: A Career As A Police Officer

Have you ever pushed yourself away from something you were born to do? Well in this Narrative Essay I am going to tell you something that made me change the way I looked at law enforcement and what they do. I am not saying I thought law enforcement was bad or cops were bad people. I am saying I thought all cops did was pull people over and write tickets. I did know a little bit about what cops did because my dad was a cop but I did not know all the details. This summer I went to a Jr. Police Academy that the American Legion of Oregon put together at the Oregon State Police Academy. The main reason I wanted to attend this camp started last year. I was at a baseball game, and there was a track meet next the field and at the time I did not know there was a meet going on. So every time the gun would sound for a race to start I would scan the field and the stands to make sure everyone was ok. Now I know it was just a track meet but it was just like an instinct to want to see if everyone was ok. I loved it, I loved the people I was with, the job career and the people teaching us. But of course everything comes to an end at some point in time and this was only a week long camp. So at the end we put all of our marching and practice to the real test of the graduation. All my family was there and I was very nervous, I think I was more nervous for that then I was for football games or something of that sort. In the end I had an amazing time with some people I will never forget, not just people my age but the teachers and officers that put the camp together. I think if there was anything I would want to forget is all the weird things people did while I was there. Well that is how the whole camp ended, we had the graduation I took some picture with people and then had a good six hour drive
