Narrative Essay About Lake Life

A Sunday morning in early August arrived, and there was not a sound in the house. No alarms set, no one needed to be at work, nothing. It was not too long until my dad had awoken and woke my brother and me as well. “Wake up, wake up, we need to go enjoy the lake before the storm!” he shouted. I had never been on his boat before due to working every weekend of the summer. This was an adventure I was looking forward to and never knew the impact it would have on me. Nothing can be more rewarding than a relaxing lake day spent with friends and family. I sprang up and dressed as quickly as I could. I felt a rush in my body with butterflies in my stomach. What to a human is a memory? If you asked someone what a memory is to them, you may get different responses out of each person that you ask. For the person whose childhood was fulfilling, a memory is going to the park and reminiscing on one’s past. However, for the person whose childhood was nothing but torture and despair, a memory to this person may be remembering their high school experience and how they were bullied every day. No matter how we look at it, a memory is a memory, whether good or bad.…

As children, people partake in some of their favorite experiences. Many of those people as adults would love to go back to the places where their experiences happened. When I was ten years old, I moved to West Texas. I loved swimming in the lakes and ponds around my home before, so I was disappointed when I found out that there was only one body of water near my new home. This “lake” (about the size of a football field) was called Clearwater Lake. It took about an hour’s time to drive there. The first time my family drove over there, I was amazed by how many people there were, all the cars packed liked sardines, the people moving so slowly it was like molasses.…

The day seemed to drag on and on, as I waited, counting down the days to California. It was a humid, sunny afternoon down at the Alton pool, where I usually spend most of my summer days working as a lifeguard. Today was very different than most…. And maybe the reason why was because it was my last day of work before I flew off to the big L.A. Most days at the pool the time went by slower than any I have ever known, with the scorching hot sun burning my skin, and little kids yelling at their friends telling each other secrets or what they want to play next.…
