College Admissions Essay: A Place In My Life

Some people might say high school is a little bit like the 40 years the Israelites had in the desert. In high school just like the desert the Israelites were in a place to grow and learn about who you are. The feelings that the Israelites had are felt by all high school kids. For example, the feeling of frustration and anger, as well as the feeling of hopelessness. High school is a place where you find out who you are, your actions and ways show everyone where you came from and how you were raised. I come from a family that teaches me how to learn from my mistakes. A place where everyone is supportive no matter the situation. I was taught never to put my head down when something doesn 't go the way I wanted it to. I also come from the city of Lawrence. Where poverty overpowers the amount of opportunities present in Lawrence. But Lawrence showed me that things are not handed to you, you need to be work for it. You can 't choose where you come from but you can choose how you decide to overcome adversity. Now I 'm at a place in my life where I feel comfortable and safe. I 'm at Central Catholic where opportunities are everywhere if you search for them. There 's new people who I can consider family, that I know now and later on will have my back. College is the promise land I 'm heading to, to explore the world. I 'm not going to be scared of entering the promise land like the Israelites were when they claimed to see giants and retreated cause the others were different from them. My giant in college will be the academics and responsibility because that 's what I have trouble with. But when I have the opportunity to go to college I 'm taking it and not let anything stop my goal of graduating and from their every place I go to and every step I take is my new promise land.
