Expository Essay On Gravity

In this vast, unknown universe that we are in, there exist four fundamental forces, (1) strong nuclear force, (2) weak nuclear force, (3) electromagnetic force and the weakest of them all, (4) gravitational force. All of them are very significant to the race of humans but one force seems to be very commonly known and familiar that we tend to forget how this force is astonishing and remarkable; how this force had shaped the world and society that we know today. Thus, let us begin knowing how gravity, the weakest force had molded the lives of humans. As I drop a book, it simply falls. I ask myself, “Why is this happening?” Answering this question is very embarrassing since the answer to this apparently obvious question is gravity. Simply speaking, when we drop things it falls just like that. It is very simple but as we discover later on, gravity’s story is not as simple as we thought; it holds so much more. Without the existence of gravity, our muscles and bone deteriorates. All the evidences say that we couldn’t exist for a full lifetime in a state where we are weightless. Evolution has developed us (all the living beings) to live in the presence of gravity. (Clegg, 2012) once said, “Without gravity pulling down on the internal organs, lung capacity is reduced by a change in position of the diaphragm, while the liver floats higher in the body cavity leaving even less room for the lungs to function. A baby born in space may have seriously compromised ability to breathe, which combined with bone deterioration emphasizes just how much gravity is part of our natural environment.” So to finally say, gravity is as essential and significant like the air we breathe.
