It is almost 2:30 pm, I was impatiently waiting for the school bell to ring, so I can go fishing after school. The school bell rings and I immediately rush out of the classroom to get home. I arrive home and get everything ready for the fishing trip. I am in the state of Louisiana, in St. Mary parish. It is 3:00 pm, I have everything ready to go fishing, and I go into the woods. I go to the creek, the edge is full of grass that is very wet and there is patches and puddles of mud from the recent rain. I impatiently wait for a fish to get hooked. In the course of an hour, I finally catch a fish. I cast my line and there is a lot of bubbles in the water. I pay no mind to the bubbles and continue fishing, suddenly an alligator jumps out of the

I stay within the trees for about a minute or two thinking about a way to distract the alligator. The alligator is enormous; it was very large with teeth lined up unevenly. This alligator was approximately eight to ten feet. I go distract the alligator and I nervously run for the tackle box. I run home and take something out, which I thought it was a snack. As I smelled the unknown item I checked the bag, and it was scented bait for catfish. I thought about this for a second I realized the alligator came at me because of the strong scent of the catfish bait it attracted the alligator. I realized that alligators are like underwater bloodhounds, they have a very strong sense of smell above and underwater. Pretty much the strong scent of the catfish bait aroused the nose of the alligator, then it saw me from under the water and jumped out and surprised me. Luckily I was thankful for not being gripped by the strong jaws of an alligator, because if I was I would have been its lunch. So after I get home I call a friend to go fishing somewhere else. I told him everything about the encounter. We went to a lake and we fish there until dark. We caught catfish, bass, and some other fish I can't
