Splash! The fish were jumping everywhere on the lake. We just arrived at my great grandparents cabin in Elcho, Wisconsin. We are on Post Lake with the glistening water that is filled with crappies, bluegills, northern, musky and bass. All the usual people were up there which include: my grandparents, aunts and uncles, some cousins and my family. This is my family’s favorite place to go on the weekends or in the summer time. It was in the middle of June and the fishing was going to be amazing because the fish were biting, according to my grandpa. I knew it was going to be a great weekend of fishing and riding the six seater Can-Am that was parked in the driveway. The forest green cabin is small, but the more people, the merrier. There also is a detached garage that we use for bunking people because there are fold down beds. This is usually where the “boys” and the dogs have to sleep. The first night we had a delicious supper which …show more content…
That morning we fished for some bluegill, but they were not biting very well. So we came back into the cabin, and took the Can-Am down to Pollock Creek to go fishing. The lily pads were coming up very nice so I thought it would be perfect for fishing. My cousin Jack and I casted out our poles and caught only a few bluegill, so we left to go back to the cabin. Driving back to the cabin, the trees were glimmering in the sunlight and the breeze felt just right. That night we went down to the mouth of the river to catch crappie. It took awhile to get just the right spot. I was with my great uncle Joe and his kids Jack and Paige. My grandpa and grandma were in the other boat with my family. Just at dark, we got the first bite. Then after that one after another, the crappies were practically jumping into the camouflage John boat. Both boats were hammering the crappies and we even caught some bass. It was getting late and the mosquitos were eating us alive even with our Deep Woods mosquito spray, so we decided to pull anchor and head

A Fly-Fisher can then turn to Nymph Fishing, which requires the nymph...a wet fly... to be sunk at different levels. I have always fished ‘on top' of the water but have also tried fishing nymphs. But do not like this type of fishing. The thrill for me, compared to floating the fly, is gone for the most part. With nymph fishing, all I do is wait for a hit or a strike.…

My family and I started out the weekend by going fishing. We fished many hours and we hooked into some nice crappies. Our family’s seasonal camper on Lake Shamineau is where we spent most of our time fishing. Routinely spotted were large northern pike and muskies all while looking for schools of crappies and walleyes. Quietly trolling for walleyes, I happened to snag a small fishing rod.…

Save your time on the water for dusk or dawn Water is cooler and shade is plentiful on most rivers around this time. Usually you can see bass feeding on the surface, much like a trout eating bugs on the surface, but instead of sipping a fly they bass will smash it like a Mack truck. Ever since I was young and would drag jitterbugs across the surface on a spinning rod, top water fishing has always been my favorite method. 7. Find moving water Bass—mainly smallies—will hang out on the edge of moving water.…

We had to go on a bus and the bus was packed with people, some people had to stand because all the seats were taken. The first boat me and my brother decided to ride in had a hole in it, so we had to get another boat. It took us a small while to figure out how to steer, but eventually we got it. When we finished canoeing, that’s when we changed our clothes because they were wet and got in the car to head home. We went to a restaurant and ate before we continued our trip back home.…

We brought our fishing poles even though we didn’t think we were going to catch anything. The canal was very cold and there was no fish out that day but we still had fun. After a little while of fishing we continued our hike among the High Acre Creasent Trails. As Andrew and I were walking along the trails we came across a small pond and we hung out there and discussed our days and we met up with a few other friends. Once we got to the end of the trail we turned around and started back.…

Apparently, this area is one of the best for fishing in the world! At first I was squeamish, but I am accustomed to it now and actually quite accomplished. So far, my only blunder has been letting raccoons eat my day’s catches. About every 15 minutes someone would catch a fish. We stayed on the boat for 6 hours, I caught 2 fish that day, and on the way back I lay down and went to sleep. When I woke up we went to a restaurant and ate for about 30 minutes, then we went home and took showers and went to bed. The next day we got up and ate breakfast. When we left there we got in the car and went to the beach, and swam for mostly the entire day.…
