Narrative Essay About Dance Tryouts

Weekend Plans Lindsay DolneyThis weekend I will be going to dance tryouts. On Friday night I went to my friend Elicia’s house. She was going to pick me up from school but I forgot my bag at home. When I got home I made sure I had packed everything and was waiting for the call that Elicia was home. My Mom, (who was my ride) had to pick up my lunch for Saturday, but completely forgot to. So she and my sister Arianna went into town to get me some food. I thought she would just be going to Coburn's and would be gone for an hour at the most. But with tons of things not going her way, traffic, seeing my Dad in Walmart and talking to him and my other family for who knows how long, forgetting one of her credit cards, and many more things, she took way longer. To be honest, I could write a …show more content…
In the morning we ate breakfast and went to the Foley High School for tryouts. Tryouts were from 9 am to 4 pm. We filled out these slips that had our parents phone numbers, emails and any medical information that was needed. I had no idea where my phone was so I couldn't fill out much because I only knew my Mom and Dad's number off the top of my head. When tryouts did start, we stretched and then worked on technique. One of the things we worked on were toe-touches. If you know me you would know I am terrible at toe-touches. I tried to do one and instead of my feet landing the jump, I landed on my butt and bruised my tailbone. This was before lunch, so for the rest of the day whenever I tried to do a toe- touch, high kick or the splits it hurt really bad. And what hurt the most was leaps and jumps and of course that's what we worked on for the rest of the day when we weren't going over the dance. On top of that, because it hurt so bad and I didn't want to go up and complain, I didn't try as hard as I could have which wasn't very good for me to have done. I still had a great day though. Overall, I had lots of fun, and I know what I need to work on for our final tryouts

We are only friends. I press to that fact, but still my heart beats a hundred times faster as we dance together. We had spent quite some time choreographing this dance together and here we are: the steps running into a well-rehearsed picture, the artists are us. And though there is no audience, we dance as if there are a thousand watching our every movement.…

It was springtime during the year of 2012, I was just about to start my summer. I was looking on the internet for sports to do in Kaneland, because I wanted to compete at a higher level. But I was not always comfortable with playing on a travel baseball team, but I knew this could be a great opportunity for me, so I took a risk and after all it, payed off. I asked “Dad would you think I would be able to compete and play on the travel baseball team” He smiled “Yes, but one thing I learned when I was young and playing baseball is; it is a game of mistakes, and the only way you can succeed is if you practice over and over to improve.”…

and i practiced every morning before school and right after tryouts which ended at about 5:30 everyday so then I would go back to the DRC till 8 then go back home and go to sleep. I would always do my homework in the morning on the way to the DRC because it took about 30 minutes to get there. Tryouts were fun but not as fun as the actual practices for the basketball team so I wanted to get on the team because I knew they would be more fun.…

“Beep Beep Beep” It is 5 am and my hand can’t make it to the alarm clock before the voices in my head start telling me that it is too early and too dark to get up. But I did not ask for their opinion, I rise like a phoenix and before I know it, I am drenched in sweat and walking out an empty gym in route to the soccer field. Why you ask because I was told I was not good enough, too uncoordinated, and too tall to play soccer and I was on a mission to prove them wrong. There was a month left before the traveling soccer team that everyone told me I was not good enough to play for came back to town for their yearly tryouts.…

Cheerleading Tryouts “Come on Lauren you’ve been doing this way too long, you’ve been on the team every year since you were 14.” I said to myself as I walk through the halls of my High School. Today is May 24, the first day of the annual cheerleading try outs and for some reason I’m extremely nervous even though I’m a three year veteran. I go through my classes talking to all my other cheer friends saying how this is going to be a breeze and how we can’t wait to start the season even though my stomach is literally overwhelmed with butterflies. DING DING DING!!!…

Hi Ms. Pierce, Hope you had a wonderful break and a nice day, The word I would use to describe my break is deciphering because I got a break from dance and school. For example, I was able to sleep to try to avenge the early wakings during school days and early dance practices. In addition to that, I had nothing to be concerned about. Having a break from both school and dance gave me time to think about myself and what I wanted for my future; besides, I was able to unwind. The time I had was crucial to me because sometimes in the middle of all the activities in the year I have no time to think.…

As stated before in our first lecture, dance is a living and fleeting art form. I believe that dance is a living art form because it is a three-dimensional picture to art. What I mean by this is that, art is normally seen on walls or as sculptures, but dance is an amazing opportunity to view art while in movement. If you are anything like me, when I look at a painting of two people or many, I always wonder what it would be like to see them actually dancing, singing, or even laughing. By watching dance, it is my living art form.…

The formation of dance has lived on this world for many generations as we continue to pass through history. When I went to the wonderful performance at Pierce College I experienced a whole new perspective on dancing. The concert had many types of students performing mixed dance projects of all types like solos and duets. There was an average size of one to eight dancers per project which made it the ideal size for the concert. I really enjoyed the creativity and effort put into this performance.…
