Personal Narrative: My Trip To Washington D. C.

We boarded the plane that would take us on the adventure of a lifetime. My pastor, his wife, a group of twelve students, some of who were my best friends, and I had all decided to continue a journey we all started in 2014. We were all a part of a leadership organization named Student Leadership University. In 2014, we went to Orlando, and then, in 2015, we went to Washington D.C. This year, 2016, we went across the pond to England and France, in Europe. As we boarded the plane, I had no room to move or sit. We had as much leg room as if we were sitting up against a wall. The plane itself was old, with ugly upholstery, small walkways, old television sets, and an aroma that was not so pleasant. The flight was very long, tiring, and uncomfortable. …show more content…
It is where D-Day partially took place. According to worldwar2history.info, “There were six 155mm cannon in heavily reinforced concrete bunkers that were capable of hitting either beach with their big shells.” We explored the ground and heard from Jeff Struecker, who served in the army as a chaplain and a captain for operations like Black Hawk Down. I remember seeing craters the size of a house. These humungous and steep holes in the ground showed the damage that was caused during the war. After visiting Pointe Du Hoc, we went back to Mercure Hotel. We had baked chicken, fresh tilapia, and steamed rice once we got to the hotel. Altogether I enjoyed the food. I sat with my friends, joking and talking like we always do. I remember that night well, being that it was our last night in France. I was wearing an outfit consisting of white Vans, tan shorts, t-shirt and a pair of sunglasses. We ate our food and talked for about an hour or so. Then, we walked over to an empty conference room with the rest of our bus …show more content…
Jay Strack. Not only is he the President of SLU, he is on the Evangelical Executive Advisory Board of Donald Trump. He greeted us and casually talked with us. His laid back, calm and personal approach to talking with us made this experience a really fun and enjoyable one to have. As we ended up the talk, we talked about some of the issues that were so prevalent to the future of our nation, such as terrorism, race relations, violence, equality, and the presidential election. After talking for about an hour, we went back into our hotel rooms. We joked around, told stories, and enjoyed our last night in France. By 11:00 PM, we all went to our separate rooms and we prepared to go to bed. As I got ready, I reflected on what these few days meant to me. I prayed, thanked God for allowing be to be on this trip, and I went to bed. Even though this was the end of the first few days I spent in Europe, it opened up so many doors for what the other days had in

When I visited George Washington my sophomore year of high school, I instantly knew that your school is where I wanted to go for college. It just wasn't like any of the other colleges that I had seen before, and for that matter it was unlike any I have seen since. I saw that GW is in a beautiful location and that its presence in the capitol greatly enhances both its value and the city’s around it. I really liked walking around the campus, as it was extremely vibrant. I saw that safety is also important, and the combination of security that holds jurisdiction in this area is extremely reassuring.…

Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

I loved the trip to Atlanta, Georgia I took with my mom’s side of the family. First I went to the Atlanta mall. There, we tramped through variety stores, and we watched Vacation in a wicked movie theater. Then, we rode a shuttle to my cousin’s beautiful wedding and elegant reception. The reception was full of caterers, amazing food, a drink bar, desserts, and a lot of other amazing stuff.…

America’s Gift to My Generation would be education and schooling. Education and schooling is a gift because with children going through school only a few will become our next inventors and scientists. The education will help make our medical teams and technology better than it has ever been before. The schooling is based on how well students work in a classroom because I know I work better at a public school then being home schooled. But for one of my friends it’s the opposite.…

I was drowning out the world with the music playing through my phone, twirling the headphone cord around my finger. My hand brushed across the paper as I erased some pencil markings. I observed the text on the brightly lit screen of my chromebook, searching for the answers to the questions on my homework. I stared at the screen with a look of confusion on my face. Little did I know that the next few moments would put my hard work to some use.…

When I came across the opportunity to travel to Europe, I wasn’t going to let it slip away from me. This trip gave me the opportunity to travel to France, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy, over a nineteen day span. I was excited to go see another part of the world; experience a different culture than what I live in. That trip to Europe was the first time I would be thousands of miles away from home and the longest time away from my parents. The trip began in my beloved Paris.…

It was a bright sunny day outside my office in the World Trade Center. Getting my work done glancing at stock writing reports, you know the usual. I, as well as the rest of America, have multiple responsibilities to America. She has given me freedom, rights, and liberties, that citizens elsewhere do not have. I have the freedom to present my opinion, vote for my leaders, and freedom to practice my own religion with protection to do so. These rights, along with many others, were not given to me for free. Many courageous men and women have died in order for me to have these rights.…

My Vision For America I feel America would be a better place if more money was granted for the development of better technology for the greater good, in all, a more advanced technology would allow for cheaper and more healthier foods, homes and other services. Better technology will open up hardly what seems a finite choice of new opportunities for safety, prosperity and the general wellfare of the environment. New technology can bring on, not just physical changes, but also of that of the human consciousness, with new ideas and intriguing philosophy to give people a new outlook of the world for change of the better, for simularities to oppose differences, for peace to victor over war and ultimately for Americans to help make the world a better place, not just for us, our country and our children, but for all of us. I see fit for conditions of the environment to be properly taken care of so that clean air, ground and water can be accessed to all. These projects of terraformation would add prodigiously to the overall state of Americans, sparking more cheerfull and stressless lives.…

Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and looking at the skyline of New York City (NYC) at night time was something I had always dreamed of seeing. One of my dreams came true when I was able to take my two daughters to New York City to experience this with me. They would see the sights on television and always say how much they want to go, so I decided to make that happen for them, not just once, but twice. Each one of our trips were 10 days in length and still not enough time to absolutely see everything we wanted to. If you know me, you understand that I plan everything down to the last detail so it was very important that we did not hit any bumps in the road during these trips.…
