My 212° Teen Camping Trip
As we loaded up the vans to go, I thought, finally, a whole week by myself away from my family! Well, I was not really by myself, because I was going with a large group of sponsors and teens, from my 212° teen church, to Falls Creek, OK, for church camp. Nevertheless, it felt good to be traveling somewhere on my own. Even though I knew it would be a long trip, I planned to have a lot of fun. Thus, when our ensemble of five vans headed out, needless to say, I was excited.
Then, after being on the road for quite a while, we stopped at a McDonalds in Oklahoma, to get a quick bite to eat. When we got back on the road, it took three and one-half hours to get there, but we finally arrived at Falls Creek. It was a huge

Following that, we went to morning worship, and once that was over, we had free time. First, I went rock climbing with two other sponsors, whose names were David and Steven. Although it was very fun, it was also somewhat scary. We were climbing high up on the rocks, and my harness which was attached to a harness on each of the sponsors, was the only thing keeping me from falling to my death, or at the very least, breaking a few bones, if I fell. Afterwards, I watched Steven and David play in the upcoming volleyball match but I found it somewhat boring. Similarly, every morning we played some type of game in our cabin, went to morning worship, and then the rest of the day was our free time. We could engage in various different activities that were scheduled, or spend time with friends. Some of the events I chose to do were, walking by myself and with friends, playing card and board games with my friends, and zip lining, which was extremely fun. Finally, the night before the last day, and while we were having evening worship, I was saved. I walked to the front of the church with a bunch of other teens who also wanted salvation. As I prayed, God accepted me into His holy kingdom forever. It was so awesome. Later on, we went back to the cabin where we had some desert and went to

I consider Camp Kanata a second home, I worked my first full summer as a camp counselor after junior year. That summer was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life; I learned, laughed, and cried everyday, I also created amazing friendships. Yet when asked about what made my summer so spectacular a few months later, I had little to say, my mind was blank. I cannot remember what happened a week ago, let alone what happened months and years ago. The number of special memories and moments I have forgotten about is unquantifiable.…

I arrive at camp, Camp Long Lake, some people call it a great merry place, others, they would prefer to watch paint dry. At least so I’ve heard. Now I’ve been forced to come to this place due to my inadequate decisions and treating people poorly. So I can only speculate that this week will be an atrocious one.…

The anticipation rises as the best week of my summer is around the corner. As we pack up the car the excitement is contagious. Going back to a place I consider home, the memories of laughs and adventures flood in from past years. The trip to a camping site in the middle of a Pennsylvania forest- a trip I would never forget- lead me to the discovery of myself and my transition into adulthood. This trip was through the summer camp I have attended for now eleven years; Liberty Lake Day Camp located in Columbus, New Jersey, is my second home. I grew up in this camp, and when I finally reached the age to become a L.I.T, a leader in training, I was eager to undergo the program with my friends I always attended camp with. This trip was a reward to all the hard work we do as L.I.Ts. Little did I know the annual L.I.T trip to the camping site would be life changing.…

I just got done with my shift to protect Camp Half-Blood feeling very tired and stressed. With the camp’s protection being down and most of the campers going back to their families for the summer, this meant that there were very few of us to guard our safe haven. Not to mention I was still recovering from my broken ankle. I decided to take a walk down to the beach near the camp. Lately, I’ve found the sound of crashing waves, wind brushing through my hair, and the slight smell of salt hitting my face very soothing ever since I had met my best friend, Percy Jackson.…

The purpose of a mission trip is not to save everyone or solve hunger. Many people who take mission trip have this mentality, and I 'm not going to lie, my first mission trip this is what I expected. I believed that I was going to be the one person to go down and “change” the people. This idea is far from reality, but I realize that you can make a difference in some people’s lives. I have taken a few mission trips to the Dominican Republic, where I have built relationships with the people down there.…

It was the summer of 2007, and my parents thought that it would be a brilliant idea to go on a family road trip to some unknown location. This was the summer before I started high school and I wasn’t in the family bonding mood for a day let alone two weeks. With me being an only child, grandchild, and great grandchild, I was the only kid with five adults in a minivan. Why my parents thought that this was a good idea is still beyond my imagination.…

Thanks the Texas Exes alumni, I was able to go to Camp Texas for free this year. At first I thought that it was like any normal 3- day camping trip, which made me extremely excited since I enjoy camping very much. Once I got there, I realized that it was a different type of camp. I was nervous and scared because I’m not very good at socializing. The reason I’m writing this is because I learned so much about being open minded, accepting, and kind to other people and new experiences.…
