The Epic Show The air was cold and crisp when I stepped outside. My dad and stepmom were already in the truck waiting for me and Derek. When I got in my plans were to sleep on the way there because I was tired since it was 4 o’clock in the morning. I couldn’t sleep on the hour long drive because the constant rumbling of the truck. When we got there it had warmed up. I hopped out of the truck. The air was still crisp and I could see my breath. “Hey are you awake?”,Derek asked.
“Yes,” I said, “Why wouldn’t I be awake?”
“It is early in the morning that’s why”,Derek said.
“Oh”,I whispered.
My dad parked by the trailer and him and my stepmom went inside the “Pavilion” while Derek and

It may have been April but there was still snow and it was still cold. After about an hour of letting them eat we untied them and we lead them to the wash rack. We were only going to rinse them and blow them out. It was very cold and wet in the wash rack but I didn’t mind it because I am use to it. We had to squeeze in between two other heifers. As I was washing one side of my heifer, another heifer rubbed its wet side all over me. Then on the other side someone washing their heifer squirted me right in the butt. I was ready to get out of there. When I got back to the shoot I had to blow out my heifer. The warm air coming from the blower was kind of warming me up. After I was done with her I tied her back up and me and Derek walked around to look at our competition. After walking around it was almost 4 o’clock. We wandered back and did the same thing for the heifers. After that we all went to eat at a burger place that had these huge burgers that Derek couldn’t even finish and he can eat a lot. After we ate it was probably around 8 o’clock. We went back to our heifers and lead them outside. It was so cold that my toes were numb within the first few …show more content…
I brushed my teeth so slowly and I had taken so long my dad asked why I was brushing my teeth for almost 5 minutes. After I brushed my teeth I changed into some clean clothes. Then I threw my jacket on. After that I shoved my feet in my boots. On the way to the “Pavilion” I almost fell asleep. When we got there I was ready for the day. We first started with the steers. We brought them in and scrubbed them with soap. We washed it out and then we blown them out. We let them lay down for a little bit before we had to get them for the show at 9. After about a half an hour we made them get up so we could start fitting them. After about an hour of fitting them we were ready to go in. When we went in I wasn’t in the same class as Derek. I had gotten second in class but when I went back out there I didn’t win the final drive. When I went back I got really excited but also very nervous to go out with my heifers. We had about an hour before we even had to bring the heifers in and start working on

A loud ring echoed throughout the house and cleared my hazy mind as I lay sprawled out on the couch. My thoughts slowly cleared and I remembered the messages from my phone. Yet another ring awakened me as I realized I had invited company. “Here” the text read. My plans for the night hit me like a sledgehammer to a nail and I sprang from the couch to grab the door.…

It took about twenty hours to get there, when we pulled in it was so electrifying knowing that you were going to be competing against people from every state. It was super hot and humid there and our horses were not used to it so we had to hang fans on their stalls and make sure they drank plenty of water. I was very nervous for my first run which was in the barrel racing, my horse was very nervous too. There was a lot of noise and things going on that scared her a lot, when it was our turn to go we didn’t do good.…

After putting on our bright pink leotards and ballet shoes, which trust me we're not the most fashionable, we went out to the car to wait on Dianna’s mom. I should mention it was still raining as if the earth would flood outside, this made it slightly hard to hear but we ran out to the car anyway. Me, Dianna, and Dalton bolted through the door, sprinting to the car that Dianna had unlocked with the small remote. The cold rain made the humid, hot day not feel as bad as the rest of that summer had been, which was dry and hot. When we got into the car we sat for a bit but then Dianna decided she wanted to turn on the music so she jumps to the front seat of the car.…

Dainty snowflakes dusted my shoulders as I darted across the open courtyard. Yawning from a hard day’s work, I quietly knocked on the studio door. Growing up, I was always a hard worker. At age nine I sold enough newspaper subscriptions to win a bicycle in my hometown of Allegheny, Pennsylvania. It was also at that age, that I was fortunate enough for my family to travel to New York for my career. At age thirteen, I was a chorus girl and later on when I was fifteen, I performed at Pan- American exposition in the “Trip to the Moon” exhibit. At age sixteen, I had an opportunity to perform in Mr. Bluebird along with my mother at the Iroquois theater.…

Although I knew that Faris would take the Kirkuk route this time to get Erbil, I just wanted to ask that question to break the early morning silence. Travelling routes between Erbil and Baghdad were few, Baghdad-Kirkuk-Erbil or Baghdad-Mosul-Erbil being the only options. As far as I was concerned, either route was extremely dangerous. Each route had different terrain and peculiarities, yet they shared a similar distance and the fear of hidden and expected attacks. These areas were essentially insurgent territory, which had become notorious for many roadside bombs, drive-by shootings, fake checkpoints and thuggery.…
