My Life After High School: A Short Story

When I was in sixth grade, trying something new wasn’t thrilling or exciting. I was always too scared and and nervous to try out many new things that I have never seen or do. The fear crept into my every cell, a ghostly shadow haunting every one of my thoughts, and rattling through my frozen, unbeatable heart. This story is one of my memorable experiences in my life. In sixth grade, I went to an elementary school called San Marino. It was a wonderful school and I was one of the smartest students in the school. One day, my teacher asked politely to the class, “Which junior high school are you guy planning to go to?” Then, all of my classmates started shouting loudly about the middle schools that they are planning to go. I thought to myself, “Which middle school do I want to go?” I have never answered that question. Then, the darkness wrapped around me as I was trembling with fear.
Next day, my best friend, Jane, ran quickly toward me as a dog ran to get its food. I laughed, “What’s up?” She replied, “Omg. I really want to go to this middle school called Oxford Academy!” I looked at her like she was speaking in some strange alien tongue. I

It was the result from the exam. As I opened up the letter, I was shaking with fear and hope. The first word in the letter was “congratulations.” From that point, I knew I passed the exam and will be going to my dream middle school for seventh grade. I felt remarkable and incredibly amazing. I remembered all the challenging, hard work I put for this exam. Then, I thanked God for this great opportunity and for helping me achieve my goal. I learned how perseverance was a key to success. I also learned that my worst enemy is myself because I have to fight myself to be more courageous and to become a person who I want to be.
