“You want to get out of here” someone yelling from across the room. Still walking over to the closet near the door to get my jacket, is when I realize my friend Joe was yelling at me and not the guy I just met beside me at this Halloween party. When Joe finally catches up to me he repeats, “you want to get out of here, Jess, Danny, and I want to get something to eat”. “Yes, where you ...” I stop mid-sentence when I hear the still unnamed guy still beside me say “I was just about to leave; my granddad is making something really good at home. You guys want to come?”. Joe had this look like he was asking “do you even know this guy?”. Not knowing what to say I said “sure”. After realizing what I had said, I was trying to make an excuse on why I …show more content…
One of the girls who is sitting by herself that seems to be friends with the noisy group, is eating nature valley peanut butter granola. When she notices me staring, she gets up and sits to my right. “You want some?” shoving the green plastic bag into my face. “Sure, I haven't eaten all day, Thanks!” “Where you from?” asking the girl with colored hair like milk chocolate...bittersweet chocolate. A darkish purple sheen like the sheen of a plump concord grape. “Round lake, you?” “Same” giggling. “Names Elle by the way” offering her hand to me. “Hi, I’m Delilah. Where are you guys going?” when I say this I notice I smell something unusual. It smells like where my brother lives. He lives in a bad neighborhood right off Chicago. That's when I notice a group of guys coming in, looking like they're up to no good. When they past my friends and I, I smell an excessive amount of booze and fried chicken. I start to get nauseous when they past us because a week or two before I became vegetarian. The smell of the chicken made me sick to my stomach because of two reasons. First, I haven't eaten all day, I was already nauseous in the first place. Second, I was so hungry and knowing I couldn't eat meat anymore made me rethink my decision. Having that image in my head made me feel not good about myself, for rethinking that. “Hey, are you okay?” asking Elle still sitting next to me. I started getting dizzy from not eating all day and I started hearing Elle getting my friends attention. When the train stopped I ran to the nearest exit, to get some air. When all my friends followed me out, I told them what happened. Looking around I saw Strahinja walking over and saying, “We can walk from here it'll only take 15 minutes”. “Where are you guys going?” said Elle. “What are you doing? Aren't you going to a party?” I asked. “It's

Halloween is like a horror movie, except with drunk teenagers instead of axe murders. It was about two years ago, when we were still living in Germany. It was a fairly peaceful Halloween night and the sun was about to set. My friends and I were walking around the village, what Germans call a town. After about half an hour of us walking around and talking, some acne filled, tall, muscular and older, German teenagers came up to us.…

As I passed through downtown Atlanta, I couldn't help admire the home of the Braves, not just because it was an architectural wonder but because it brought back to mind that very first lesson when Professor Van Huevelen sparked my curiosity when he said we find that there are some things in this world that are repeatable. Repeatable. Repeatable. So a baseball pitcher, if he throws a ball with the same speed and in the same direction, spinning the ball the same, it'll end up going about the same place.…

Halloween, an American tradition where young children can go ‘trick or treating’ around their neighbourhood, however, this has risen the debate of whether this celebration is a safe or a suitable one to be part of. An opinion piece was published on Mamamia on the 29th of October, 2015, titled ‘Why my kids won’t be doing Halloween’, written by Alissa Warren, implies that Halloween is a ridiculous and an inappropriate event to be participated by anyone. In a disconcerting and exasperated tone, Warren targets readers of Mamamia and parents, of this whole issue of the pointless festivity. The article was also accompanied by a visual image that displays some kids in costume, trick or treating, with no one around and followed by a comment, written…
