I never really worried that anything seriously bad or terrifying might happen to me or my family. I was naive to the reality of death and part of me believed that death only occurred in movies to make them more suspenseful and emotional, but then again, I was only around 7 or 8 years old. I still believed in Santa Claus when this horrifying event took place and snapped me into reality. It was summertime, and we were going on vacation to Mackinaw Island, which is located in Michigan. We were always taking trips to Kentucky and numerous other places, but we already knew the directions for those destinations by heart at this point, and Mackinaw Island was a new experience for us.…

Guero I rolled out of bed at 3:30am on Monday morning, wondering what the heck I got myself into. Half asleep, I turned off my alarm and proceeded to get dressed and pack my clothes and toiletries.
