Narrative Essay: A Personal Experience In High School

Narrative Essay One tremendously windy Monday morning, the sky shifted gloomy shades of grey above my home in the land of 10,000 lakes: Minnesota. My loathsome alarm yet again woke me with its vexatious sound, as it does Monday through Friday. It took me an unpleasant 30 minutes to get myself out of bed and into the shower. After showering and picking out a nice cozy outfit, I dashed upstairs to grab a quick breakfast before heading to an early choir rehearsal. In a surprisingly pleasant turn of events I noticed my loving mother had made me chocolate chip pancakes before she left for work at Canterbury Park. Making a regular appearance in my childhood, chocolate chip pancakes naturally became my all-time favorite breakfast. After devouring …show more content…
It was the week of my high schools celebrate choir concert, so I knew sure as hell that I had no choice of being late. It was the most important concert of the year and included oodles of choreography and immense songs from movies and video games. While I was driving eagerly to school across Highway 13, I drifted across a big patch of black ice. I slammed on the breaks and the smell of burnt rubber filled the inside of my car. As a result of skidding, I scraped the side of my car leaving a huge scratch from hitting a barrier. I proceeded to keep driving and got myself back onto the road. After such a wild eventful morning, I arrived at school safe and sound and ran to my choir rehearsal. Early choir practice was uneventful, and school was just dreadful. During lunch, my mom texted me informing me that we had dinner reservations that night at Benihana’s. “What a wonderful treat”, I thought, as I looked at the cold pasta and soggy salad on my tray. Naturally, the last 3 hours of school went by terribly slow as I kept thinking of the delicious hibachi dinner I was going to be able to indulge in that night. Thinking back to the special breakfast and now a fancy dinner, something for sure had to be up. My family was not often found going out to dinner together, for no reason at all. I wondered what it could be. Did my sister and her boyfriend get engaged? Are we moving? Did my dad …show more content…
I wasn’t able to see more than twenty feet in front of me because there was so much snow plunging. I got into my car and cautiously drove home due to the fact that I had almost got in a bad accident that same morning. While cruising out of the high school parking lot, I was determined to put on some music. Without notice, the car in front of me slammed on their breaks and I ran into their rear bumper. Luckily, it was one of my friends from school and I didn’t leave ant mark what so ever. I couldn’t believe the series of events that happened to me throughout the day and was beyond ready to get to home. I reached my cozy household and was about to take a long nap when I found a to-do list waiting for me on the kitchen counter. The list stated: Finish laundry and fold clothes, load the dishwasher, and vacuum the upstairs. I finished my chores as fast as possible so I could get a start on my homework and we could head out to dinner and I could finally figure out what we were

I am Alexandra Papazian and I am 14 years old. I am in 9th grade at Andover High School. I am liking my Freshman year at Andover High School. Over the summer I was very nervous for high school but it isn’t that bad! Right now I look up to a lot of people. I look up to my mom and dad a lot. I don’t really look up to my brother at all even though he is older. Influential people in my life right now are empowering women such as Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane Hansen, Ally Brooke Hernandez, and Normani Kordei. They inspire me a lot to be a better person. Also, they are in a band called Fifth Harmony, which I am a fan of. I see my cousins Cassandra, Kaylee, Keira, and Gracie a lot. I see my cousins on my dad side a few times a year. I also see my grandparents…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling. As a sport, it was entirely new to me. It had previously only been a staged festival of well-muscled actors. Now, I faced it as a challenge. I was entering a field of athletes that had been learning pins since their infancy, and I felt that immediately. I faced impossible match-ups not only…

I woke up like any average morning. I got up to go see what we had to eat and to get a drink. I ended up making a strawberry Poptart and had a cup of water. As I was eating, I realized I hadn’t checked my phone at all. I saw that it was 9:00 am. Luckily it was Saturday so it didn’t really matter. I started playing a game on my phone when I started to think of what I was going to do today. I planned on it being a normal Saturday, lying around and playing games on my computer. After I was done eating, I went to lie down on my bed and play games. I lied there for about two hours, doing nothing but watching videos on my phone. I got a call from a friend of mine named Noah.…

Looking back on it, on how I got to where I am. I don't know how i did it, when you run into something ,with the power to knock you down- you get back up! I've considered myself a sort of mellow guy, but I can be very intense. It's funny because you can't tell by looking at me. Most people say they can't read me, but I think i am a fairly simple guy.…

High school. People say it’s either the best or worst four years of your life. Of course they never give you the details of what makes them the worst or best years. Which means, I, a terrified 8th grader convince myself that they will be the worst four years of my life. Honestly it is easy to guess that. In high school the classes are harder, your grades matter so much more, you have to write more and sit in class longer. On the outside high school looks like one giant stress ball that is going to knock you out the second you walk through the door. There was no way I had a chance of making it through high school!…

The hardest thing I’ve ever went through? Let me take you back to almost three years ago to a very cold Thursday morning in January. I was sitting in history class when suddenly something very strange happened; the announcement speakers came on. To most people it would seem like it was a very typical day to day event to listen to announcements; but at my school announcements were rarely ever said. My classroom got completely silent; to the point where you could have heard a pin drop. The words that came next were like an explosion and disbelief fell on all of us.…

The leaves started to change and I finally felt like new again. It was my junior year and all I wanted to do at this point was get the heck out of high school. I had maybe two or three good friends that I could actually count on at the time. I didn’t really have any of those good friends during my lunch period and was forced to have pointless conversations with irrelevant girls who only cared about their image and how popular they are in high school. My viewpoint of high school now was completely changed. I stood up for myself, I was my own person and was undeniably and unapologetically myself. I now knew my worth and knew what I wanted. I did not take anything from anyone, I knew what I deserved and I wasn’t going to stop until I got it. I was blooming, growing, and becoming more and more myself everyday.…

I have never been so embarrassed before. We were in my seventh grade health class when our teacher told us that we are doing the FitnessGram Pacer Test. I blankly stared at him for a good minute then all of it fell upon me. My hearing was blocked, palms began to sweat, while unconsciously biting my nails and shaking my right leg. As my throat began to dry, adrenaline decided to take over my unsteady body.…

When I entered the room, my sister, sitting at the table finishing her homework, chirped, “Did you like my drawing?” Turning with a carton of milk in hand and pouring myself a glass, I asked, “What?” “The one I put in your room two days ago,” she replied with an incredulous whimper in her voice. “Oh yes,” I replied, “I can’t wait to see it!” I walked into my room and the drawing sat atop my dresser, unnoticed and neglected. Crayola scribbles of red, blue and fluorescent green garishly whorled and danced in a fifth grader’s masterpiece.…

When I started out I wanted to be a good student I wasn’t going to be one of those high school druggies that never did anything, and that is how I was. I was a very shy and quiet person I didn’t stand out in anyway or anything. Then I met him. The “man” who was going to be there forever who I would always be with, I did believe him and I changed so that way I could be like him and like the things that he liked. Well he like weed, and drinking. So during freshman year, let's say about mid way through the year. I started to go to parties, and I started to leave behind my old friends for the new ones I had found. Soon I was hanging out with people who all they did was drugs.…

I bit my lip and tried the scale again. I felt my fingers fly through the progression, and I played the phrase just as my mind imagined it should sound. I rested my hands and waited for my teacher, Ms. Julie to respond. We had been practicing this piece exclusively in preparation for my audition to a prestigious middle school for the performing arts. I was intimidated by the audition as it was, but I was beginning to feel more intimidated by my teacher. She clicked her tongue in disapproval and corrected something about my posture. My shiny, black Mary Janes stretched to the pedals and I tried with all my will to remain straight. Suddenly, my mouth went dry. I heard a crack from the audition door as it echoed through the hallway.…

My Junior year of high school was my challenging year, the reason to that is because we had to study for our Act also we had our grad MCAs to take. I must say it was really difficult knowing that we had those two big major tests in the same week. The amount of studying was ridiculous but in my head for a whole two months I was reminding myself that it will benefit me in the future that I need this to graduate. One part I didn 't have to worry was a portion of the MCA like the Algebra part. But the part that was extremely hard for me was geometry. Geometry was really confusing knowing the different shape and the equation and all other things. One thing I remember was when my teacher reminded saying half of the exam consist of geometry that…

When entering junior high, we were constantly reminded by teachers, parents, and school administrators how different it was from elementary school. It was supposed to be the start of a transition from childhood to young adulthood, and though I discounted many of these sentiments at the time, looking back it certainly was. In an instant, it seemed, everyone started swearing and the hallways began to smell of a putrid mixture of not enough or too much cologne. For the first time we had to change before gym, no one really sure whether it was more socially acceptable to change in a bathroom stall or feign confidence by doing it out in the open. Talk swirled of who got their periods, who was wearing what bra size, and which boys needed to stop cultivating…
