arcissistic behavior in Western society is common. Television, movies, and music paint wealthy people as "having it all." The Kardashians come to mind personally, because they are known for the amount of money they have and the lavish lifestyle they lead. Rappers popular today talk about excessive cash, women, cars, and mansions. It seems younger people are greatly affected by these musicians and entertainers, and social media makes it easy to be influenced. I may not necessarily keep track of Kylie Jenner's Instagram account, but that doesn't mean I won't see an online article about her. Tabloids dedicate their time to plastering celebrities' faces on the front page to get people to buy the issue and television shows like Entertainment Tonight and TMZ are all about the latest celebrity news. We have become a society that puts a lot of importance on social media and what our favorite actors are up to, and it's not a no-brainer that Facebook has helped many people stay in touch and express their emotions. I used to believe having a large social following would be amazing until I hit 22,000 followers on Tumblr and began receiving messages from people trying to hurt me. The situation was out of hand and I took a long break from my blogging journey only to come back with less follower interaction. While having more people interested in your blog or timeline can be beneficial, it comes with risks. Now I don't invest such high hopes and keep my personal life as private as possible. Social media for me is a way to pass the time and keep in touch, although it's hard to find a healthy balance especially when there's so much pressure to be "Instagram
