He tries over and over to find a voice mail message for his house phone without stuttering, sounding too loud, or sounding too soft. For seven minutes, John desperately tries to sound as normal and calm as possible. At first, we think he’s trying to be a perfectionist but as we continue watching, John shows no mercy and makes this a really big deal on trying to create an effective voice mail. Eventually, you see him getting more and more upset due to the fact he cannot create the perfect voice mail, and a lot more alcohol is being consumed. He has had enough, so he gives it one last try and it’s his final try. He starts off good
