This type of sampling works best when trying to look at one particular issue, and then attempting to compare two or more groups. This technique offers a higher change of the study being statistically correct. This method requires dividing the population into groups, and then randomly selecting the final subjects from the different social stratification (Survey Sampling Methods, 2016). This study would have to be conducted with children ages 9 to 13, who have parents with narcissistic disorder or borderline personality disorder since narcissism is one of the main concerns with borderline persons. This study would also need to be done with children who are raised by mentally healthy parents as well, and the children will be the same ages. The sample in this study would be split into two groups. The first group are the children raised by narcissistic parents, and the second group would be children raised by mentally healthy parents. With a two-tailed test, the difference between these two groups were extreme enough to come to the conclusion that the hypothesis about narcissistic parenting and negative mental health problems in children do form a positive correlation. While having a narcissistic parent, the child constantly looks for approvable that is unattainable from the parent. As a person that has experienced this and while conducting this study, it is conclusive that this type of parent does cause some damage to a child’s mental health. The child can lack confidence in their abilities, feel that they are never good enough to complete certain life goals, and overall lack self-esteem. This can be conquered. As hard as it is to have a parent with these tendencies, one can seek therapy later on in life to combat the feelings and problems that have developed in childhood while dealing with this type of parent.
