Narcissism is characterized as egoistic, self-admiration, feelings of superiority, a sense of entitlement, and a lack of empathy. According to Cain et al. (2008), 77% of the research relies on the NPI to provide accurate measurements that can be used to argue the basis of narcissism. The NPI is composed of a reasonable amount of item pairs that are shown in a forced choice format. Participants are presented with items pairs and are instructed to choose the best response option that is the closest to their feelings and beliefs. Each item pair in the NPI is consisted with one narcissistic response option. In the example below, option a is the narcissistic response, and option b is the non-narcissistic response.
Although, there are many variables that can determine whether the hypothesis is inconclusive, it is finding the best slope of approximation that can support the hypothesis to be at-most accurate.
