Naps During The Day: Article Analysis

There are benefits and drawbacks to adults taking naps during the day. Some say that taking a nap during the day will have postive effects on energy levels, others argue that it will cause people to be groggy and could result in longer work days. I believe that taking a nap during the day, when tired, will have physical and mental benefits for people.

Some may argue that by taking naps during the day, adults would waste time and run the risk of developing sleep intertia. Adults who work do not have the time available to nap during the day. If their businesses allowed them some time for a nap, workdays would have to be longer to compensate for the time spent napping. The article, "Naps Are Not a Solution" argues that the core problem of people being tired should be addressed, whether that be illness, too much stress, or too little sleep. A study discussed in the article "Naps benefit Both Mind and Body" argues that taking a nap was the best remedy to fight afternoon sleepiness.

If someone is tired or sleep deprived they will have a low quality of work, and may not be energized enough to efficiently complete their tasks. They will not be able to think as creatively if they are distracted or tired. When I am tired my brain feels as though it cannot work very quickly.
