What is a revolution? A fundamental change in political power, there have been many in the past and possibly many in the future. In “Animal Farm” George Orwell presents the idea that language can be used to maintain power when a leader has too much power is obsessed with keeping control of their citizens. The book Animal Farm is based off the Russian Revolution. The Russian Revolution was the fall of the Czar in Russia which later formed the Soviet Union and Joseph Stalin would later rise to power. Animal Farm has transcended its original context of the Russian Revolution and Joseph Stalin because it displays the events of the Russian Revolution in the text.

One relation between the two revolutions were their leaders. The later leader of the Cuban Revolution was Fidel Castro and the later leader of the Russian Revolution was Joseph Stalin, the two leaders had similar ideas for the country they led and how they treated the people of their country. One difference of the two is the timelines of the revolutions and when they occurred. The Russian Revolution had happened in 1917 while the Cuban Revolution Occurred in 1953 with a total of 36 years apart of when they happened. Another comparison between the two is that they both started because of their ideas against the government.
