This still lives on in modern day japan. Naoko went to school as a child and wore a daifuku or sailor uniform to school as dress code. Nowadays, in schools in japan, kids still have uniforms similar to that. This may have been a main inspiration for her mangas ( source A). she also was a member of the astronomy club and manga club at her school (Miss Dream, 2015). When she grew up, she created a huge success of a story and beautiful art to accompany it. By persevering, she was able to create and innovate together, in unison.
