Nannie Monologue

SLAM! The door closes with a crash as I awake from my slumber. As I crawl out of bed and start walking to the door, I hear an unfamiliar noise coming from the kitchen that sounds like sobbing mixed with mumbled curse words mixed under someone’s breath. Who could this be? Surely, not my father! I had never heard my father cry before in all my life and to say such harsh words! Daddy never curses unless something unimaginable happens. What is going on? I wonder. I decided that I had to go take a look for myself. But what about my brothers? Lars and Hans surely woke up with such a noise too. However, a quick glance in their room proved otherwise; they were still sound asleep. I walk around the corner and try to eavesdrop but they are talking in too much of a whisper for me to hear them.
