Nanna Ohland Meaning

Music is an important thing in many people’s lives and I’m sure it has also saved many lives. The industry is really big and successful, as there are so many different types of music to listen to. In this essay I will be discussing a song that has had big meaning to me, White Nights written by Oh land.

The song is mostly about dreams as the chorus reveals; “these dreams under my pillow”. But it’s also about thoughts, in the first paragraph she sings “Has it been a day or a week? As my eyes begin to close, I am walking in my sleep. Living in a state in-between (…)”. This suggests that it is not only about dreams, but maybe daydreaming as well. The lyrics doesn’t really make much sense, and the songwriters’ original meaning may have been something completely else. Even though they don’t make any sense, they match perfectly and it’s a song that’s easy to sing.

Nanna Oland, the singer and partial songwriter, has a dreamy voice that brings out memories from the past. Many of her songs generate the same feeling of happiness and warmth. But I also think she wants the listener to recognize oneself in her songs, of how dreams and thoughts can be random and different.

Always when I listen to this song, I get happy, it can be the worst day and it will cheer me up no matter what. Not only because the music itself is really lovely, but I also have certain memories connected to the song. I found the song on YouTube by accident many years ago, it has been my favorite song ever since I heard it for the first time. Because I’ve listened to it so many times, I get flashbacks to things that happened while listening to the song.

There is something wonderful about this piece that I never get tired of, and that’s what is so great about it. Of course everyone has their taste in music, but most people of whom I played it to also felt the

Music and society have a large impact on each other, and how they shape the way people view and act in the world. There are four themes that identify and characterize how music has evolved over the past one hundred years. These themes also show how music affects and expresses the culture that not only we live in today, but also how we have changed in our views on numerous aspects of today’s society. The four themes that are explored directly with a specific artist and, or, band are how they impact society, politics, and several cultural issues that have stood the test of time and the way race, class, and gender are expressed in music. The development of the music industry and the technology used in it are widely affected by the change in music over decades, but also by outstanding individuals during their careers, which span over a variable amount of time.…

I remembered that the lyrics tried to convey to us the logic of war being inevitable and that what was once on the grounds of the battlefield will be replaced my new things. In a way I was able to interpret that as a new beginning but also a true sad part of our life. The fact that she used an inspiring tone to talk to us, she drew us in with the climax tension of the song. Even when it seemed like the song was dying out, she and the other performers managed to keep us in with the groove of the music till the song had ended…

My Personal Playlist and Transcendental Justification Icarus, Bastille, 2011 I personally love this song simply because of the Greek Mythology reference, as well as the really cool entrance; and I think that transcendentalists might like it as well. My interpretation of this song is that it is talking about how young people search for happiness by doing dangerous and risky things (i.e. Icarus got excited and flew up towards the sun), that may lead to them getting hurt (the sun melting the wax off of Icarus’s wings and him falling to his death. Transcendentalists would like this interpretation, because they believe that although people try to bring happiness into their lives by relying on material things (ex. Drugs and Alcohol), this will never…

Throughout my lifetime, there has been moments of laughter as well as grief. But a moment in my life that was pivotal was when I first felt the love of my life, at the moment, fade away slowly from me and sort of detach from our relationship. The song by Christian Nodal- “Adios Amor” showed me how at times when the love fades between partners to the point where there is no love at all, you have to do your best to move on rather than spending time grieving the love that is lost. Therefore, the song “Adios Amor” gave me the tough realization that some relationships are best to let go of if they don’t work as a young adult, and will continue to guide me throughout my life.…

The most influential music in my life is the song “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. Both my dad and I love country music, especially Tim McGraw. My dad thinks the world of my older sister and I. Like any great father, he would do absolutely anything for his girls. Whenever he hears this song on the radio, or wherever, he turns the volume up and belts out this song. This song makes me so grateful that I have such a huge blessing as my father, I don’t know what I would ever do without him.…

Stay: Sara Bareilles I was raised by my grandmother, who spend an immense amount of time listening to me play the piano in our living room. Since the time I entered high school, Sara Bareilles has been my most listened to, piano played, and prefered musical artist. Bareilles’ song “stay” released in 2012 continues to be the most prominently meaningful, and produces the strongest emotional response compared to any other song, lyrical or otherwise. Not surprisingly, a great deal of the time my grandmother spent listening to me play, was listening to me play the song “stay”, which quickly became one of her favorite songs as well.…

This is clearly meant to be an emotional influence on the audience. Lyrically, the characters are talking about hope for their future, but the audience knows better. The rhythm is telling the audience to be as happy and hopeful as Jamie and Cathy are but the underlying dread of what comes ruins this. The register of pitch in Cathy’s voice is high and Jamie’s register is low, giving vary degrees of frequency that come together to produce a beautiful melody. The main instrumental accompaniment is a piano.…
