The skilled pilot landed the plane perfectly despite the slight breeze and steady rain. We quickly unpacked the plane,trying to stay dry. Upon landing, we spooked a flock of grouse sitting on the bank. Unable to find a convenient game trail, we hiked up a mile of thick alders, blocking my view from every angle. After what semed like forever, we stumbled across a large stretch of swamp. Looking perfect for moose habitation. We set up a little blind in the trees and called for an hour. Not hearing or seeing movement, we decided to walk farther and find a higher spot to sit. We found a large swamp with a big beaver pond in the center with plenty of hills to look down from. My 11 years old brother was on his first big game hunt. He began to call for our prey. Within five minutes of using the makeshift call a moose was spotted walking into sight.
