These images gave you just a little taste of what the real exhibition was all about, looking back these images didn 't even show half of the themes that Nan was portraying in The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, These images showed kissing, nudity and Nan being one of the victims of domestic violence with a black and blue eye. This image caught my eye because even though she was physically hurt, I didn’t see any pain in her eyes, what I saw instead was her desire of capturing photographs. She was very good at capturing emotion through her photos, not only by simply showing people in the act of love but also capturing their emotions through their bodies and eyes. It was clear that what was said in the beginning of the exhibition was true, there were a few images containing explicit nudity, like images of naked men with full erections and a couple naked, perhaps before being intimate. I loved that Nan Goldin made this exhibition with the themes she did, not many photographers would dare to touch topics like she did. She described this exhibition to be a diary, a diary into her life, her experiences as well as others. The Ballad of Sexual Dependency has been very interesting to experience and I am very happy I got to see this exhibition. The curators have done a great job in capturing the visitors visually and emotionally but mainly Nan Goldin who captured these moments of her life and of many other people. This exhibition has contributed to my knowledge of photography by assuring me that no matter the theme photographs will always capture you visually and emotionally.
