Small Yugen has always been raised in a kind and patient household. His parents still revere the Nakiri's old fashioned ways as they make offerings to the village's shrine and puts masks on their children. They tolerate the incoming technology for the shinobi world, but are rather reluctant to try it out themselves. Yugen always wondered why they wouldn't when it's right in front of them--new energy source ready to be used and tampered with. He often shrugged it off, thinking that it must be their old-fashioned way of thinking. His parents taught him that "what goes around comes around", and that he must treat others as how he wanted to be treated, but young Yugen was not fully convinced. He retained the calm demeanor his parents influenced, but not so much the belief. In fact, he thought that such naive belief could bring one to his own demise. His patience to his clan finally ticked when a family member's infant was still forced to wear the mask even when it was feverish and wailing out of discomfort. He thought it was not humane, but when he asked his parents about it, they told him it was the way to be. Ever since then, Yugen developed his own way of seeing the world, trying to break free from his clan's ancient views and beliefs. This belief was propelled even further when he learned about the current tension between the shinobi's belief and samurai's belief in a history class. He was genuinely confused as to why his parents, two full-fledged shinobi, would not want to try out the new
