NAEYC standard 3b: Using Observation, Documentation and Assessment Tools
A Brief Introduction to the Child In respect for the daycare center and the privacy of the child, I use will the Pseudo Name of Joe. He is a four-year-old, that is average height (roughly about 3’5). He has brown/blackish curly hair and brown eye color. The reason being I picked Joe because right away he grabbed my attention, as soon as I walked into the classroom, I noticed right away that he is always smiling. Also he is very interactive, he tries his best to include all of his friends into play, which I think is very important when it comes to social development.

As they play together, he helped his friends get to the base without being tagged. He would shout out to his friend “David get to the base before teacher John gets you and we become it”. The two students would then run back to the base without getting tagged by the teacher. When it was time to go back in the classroom, he gathered his friends to line up against the fence, so they are able to go inside for lunch. He is able to write his name, write numbers and use the scissors perfectly. For example, as the children enters the classroom, they are responsible for putting their backpacks and other belongings away. After putting their backpacks in their cubies and lunches in the refrigerator, they have a board that says “I am here today” on that board each child has to sign in with their names. When Joe came in, he immediately put his backpack away and put his lunch bag in the refrigerator, when done he went over to the board and began to write his name. while writing his name, Joe only seem to struggle with one of the letter of his name. Every other letter in his name, he had no trouble writing. Another example of would be the time during lunch, he was having a goyurt for lunch and instead of using the scissor to cut open the tube, he proceeded to use his hands to rip the center of the goyurt, causing a bit of a mess at the table. Eventually the teacher saw him and asked him to clean up his mess and use the scissor to properly open the yogurt. He then got up, got paper towel from countertop, went back to his seat and cleaned his mess. When finished he threw away the paper towel, once he returned back to his seat, he then got a pair of scissor and cut open the goyurt, without the help of his
