First, I appreciate its diversity. Both of my parents are immigrants, my father from Singapore and my mother from Honduras. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to be able to experience both cultures. When I was, young I was able to visit where my mother grew up in El Progreso, Honduras. One trip I could never forget when my family and I were in Honduras was when we visited the Copan Ruinas where I could see firsthand an archaeological site of the Maya civilization. Secondly, being a student of NYU will give me the opportunity to be a part of a community who contribute to a positive academic atmosphere of dedication and willingness to learn. With this opportunity, I will have the chance to explore the various areas of current biology in an integrated yet diverse program that builds from a solid foundation of the basic elements of molecular and cellular biology, genetics, evolution, organ systems and population studies. Finally, swimming for NYU has always been a goal of mine. Over the past year and a half Trevor Miele, NYU’s men’s swimming head coach and I have been in contact about me joining his swim program in hopes of winning NYU’s first ever Men’s NCAA title. From what I have heard from 2 swimmers on the men’s team is that their experience at NYU is like no other, they love the teams atmosphere along with the opportunity to continue their path of education at one of the best private institutions in the
