NTHS REFLECTIVE ESSAY
“A positive attitude can really make dreams come true” ~David Bailey. This is something I try to remember everyday as I go thru work, school, and life in general. I think a positive attitude can change everything, and it is especially important in a work or school environment. A smile can make all the difference in someone's day. I am in the Cosmetology 1 program at CTE, so I have to opportunity to talk with people while performing a service on them, and keeping a positive attitude is crucial. It is also important in a classroom setting. Even when we are working on something I don't enjoy, I try to remind myself that if I keep a positive attitude, it will make for a better experience.
My career goal is to do something I love that also helps people, and brings joy to them. I have observed that people do best doing what they love, and I want to always do my best. It is always more fun to work with someone who loves what they do. CTE has show me that you can always do what you want if you love it. We are given the support and push from our teachers and guidance counselors, to do what we love. I also, in my Cosmetology 1 program, have really been taught how important it is to make your client feel happy

Over this summer I hope to do even more volunteer work hopefully involving animals. In my Cosmetology 1 program we have two senor days where we give manicures to senior citizens. So I got to give manicures to several women and learn about their lives. I also have been able to help with some fund raising events with Student Council at CTE. We raised money for the families affected by the Harwood accident, as well as gather pet food for Lucy’s Pet Foundation. Helping out your community is very important and it is awesome that CTE reinforces

Joining the New Visions program was one of the wisest decisions I have made. When nurses that I shadow at Unity Hospital express how jealous they are that they didn’t have a program like this when they were in high school, it reminds me to take advantage of this opportunity that not every student receives. I am confident that when I graduate college, I will be able to recollect this program, and how it led me to be successful. I will reminisce about the long hours dedicated to each college-level assignment in determination to receive a grade in the high 90’s, or that moment when I witnessed a five pound baby be born from a cesarean delivery, or even when I stood next to the operating table observing a total knee replacement surgery, while the surgeon and nurses took the time to teach me about what they were doing--an opportunity that not even college nursing students were able to see. Every assignment I completed, conversation I had, and person I met, has transformed me into a more educated and open minded student.…

I organised the calendars of the Bureau advisors and scheduled their appointments. I logged any letters we received in the database and alert the advisors who the information was most relevant to. It was also my responsibility to send the post off. I created reports on cases; then updated them whenever the bureau received new information. This experience identifying relevant information and recording it accurately will serve me well as a commercial solicitor overcoming both commercial and legal obstacles on a daily basis.…

After finishing the English 101 course I feel like I have accomplished many of the goals that I was challenged with the beginning of the course, such as critically thinking and reading with text from the textbook “Dialogues” by Gary Goshgarian, substantively replying to my peers to understand their point of views from the text and to get a better understanding of a rhetorical argument. Thinking and reading critically were very important this whole course. Thinking and reading critically were something you would have to do in every assignment that was given. Incorporating it in every assignment has helped us greatly improve week by week and betters our understanding of each topic and the assignments main idea.…

It is very important to keep a positive attitude in any time of conflict. A quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer says “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Keeping a positive attitude is what will give you motivation to keep going in a time of trouble. During a troubled time, Anne Frank had kept a positive outlook even though she knew that something wasn’t right. She wrote in her diary to keep her going, to give her motivation.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

I struggle academically in the start of high school mainly because I made the decision to hang out with a clique of people that diverted my focus in school and ultimately led me to creating an alter ego. I came into high school as a recent valedictorian graduate and suddenly I was doing poorly in school. Deeply inside I truly cared about my studies; however, I had to depict an image as if I trifle school in order to fit in the group. My home school and my community are located in a infamous vicinity; I can recall being paranoid as I walked to school. I could not demonstrate fear in school because I would be pictured as a vulnerable target and other students always tried to test me; therefore, it was enviable and necessary to prove myself.…
