NPPA Code Of Ethics Case Study

Decent Essays
According to NPPA code of ethics, a photojournalist must follow set of rules in his/her work. For example: “Do not manipulate images or add or alter sound in any way that can mislead viewers or misrepresent subjects.” (2) However, McCurry claims he is a visual storyteller not a photojournalist (3), which indicated the set of code of ethics do not apply to him. For this season, I support McCurry’s explanation. If McCurry is a photojournalist, he definitely violated the ethical conduct. McCurry graduated from Penn State with a degree in theater arts, not in journalism. He worked at a newspaper, The Daily Collegian, for two years. Then he never worked for any newspapers or magazines. Therefore, his claim is justifiable.

The DEC codes in particular discuss the enhancement of children’s and families quality of life when investing in child care development. Under this code #2 we should be able to identify professionals that recognize the responsibility to improve the developmental…

According to the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct Section 53 – Article II: The Public Interest, “Those who rely on certified public accountants expect them to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, objectivity, due professional care, and a genuine interest in serving the public” (CP pg. 7). Young & Brobeck, LLP did not uphold these principles and did not comply with GAAP thus, resulting in a breach of their duty of care (CP pg. 2). The auditor's unqualified opinion included an investment made in 2004 worth $5,100,000 that Sensor Circuits sold to Greenco for an $8,000,000 non-interest bearing note due in 5 years (CP pg.1,2). Rico recorded the transaction as a gain on sale of $2,900,000 (see Appendix, Figure 1). According to APB Opinion 21, “the present value of a note that stipulates either no interest or a rate of interest that is clearly unreasonable should be determined by discounting all future payments on the notes using an imputed rate of interest” (CP pg. 6).…

Comparing Codes of Ethics The very nature of the counseling profession places professional counselors in close proximity with people, information, and influence. Due to this, ethical dilemmas can arise throughout the course of this work. To help aid in the protection of counselors, and to provide a framework for ethical practice, ethical codes have been developed and instituted within the profession. As Beuchamp and Childress stated (as cited in Calley, 2009), “in the counseling profession, ethical standards are required to protect clients, guide professional behavior, ensure the autonomy of professionals, increase the status of the profession, enhance the client 's and the community 's trust in the profession, and articulate collegial conduct between professionals,” (p. 476).…

Burgess chair and director of the Center for Journalism Ethics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison once wrote, "I have to say I find it heartbreaking to read yet another serious allegation of plagiarism about yet another prominent journalist," he wrote. "Nothing is more devastating to journalism’s already fragile reputation than instances of journalistic misconduct.” I found this quote relatable when finding information on all four of these prominent men. I felt the more established these men were the more it was brushed off in a way. When Martin Luther King Jr. and Fareed Zakaria were exposed of their wrong doing it felt brushed off as to Jonah Lehrer who faced serious action of loosing his job.…
