NHS Trust Survey

Surveys have been conducted within the various trusts of the NHS. These surveys have collected data regarding the job satisfaction, work engagement, recommendation (whether they would recommend their place of work to others for employment), improvement (staff involvement in making improvements) and overall engagement of the employees from NHS trusts at various locations which were within London and outside London. The question that were asked to the employees in the survey were meant to be answered as a range of score, from 1 to 5 and is therefore yielding a quantitative data. The survey has been conducted starting from the year 2009 up to year 2014 from the nurses and doctors that work in the various NHS trusts.

All full time and part-time staff who are directly employed by the organisation, ii. Employees on all types of contract iii. Permanent, fixed period, locum, or temporary, iv. Seconded staff (e.g. social care staff seconded from the local authority), but only if they are on the organisation payroll,
v. Hosted staff who have a substantive contract with the organisation.

The list of staff should however exclude the following –

i. Staff who are on long-term sick leave1 on 1 September 2015; ii. All staff employed by sub-contracted organisations or outside contractors; iii. Bank staff (unless they also have substantive organisation contracts); iv. Seconded staff who are on the payroll of another organisation (e.g. social care staff who are on the payroll of the local authority);
v. Student nurses; vi. Non-executive directors

The basic sample size for the survey is decided by the number of staff that are working in the concerned organisation. This sample size is identified from the list of staff that has to be included in the survey and has been listed above. The basic sample size according to the strength of the staff at the organisation is shown in the table
