There are many different attributes and experiences Cadets bring to the USAFA. What individualizes me are my attributes which are: foresight, decisiveness, approach, commitment, common vision, integrity, and persistence. All of these things I use to help my team get the mission accomplished.
First of all, foresight, or seeing beyond the horizon, to me means to prepare now with the luxury of time that might not be available later. My Flight Instructor, Col Glen Whicker (USAF Ret.) pounded into my head, “ Always stay ahead of the aircraft”. At the Academy I know that not only I will stay ahead of the game, but I will also help the other cadets flourish in the demanding environment.
Furthermore, I have worked hard to become decisive in problems I run into . While training for my Private Pilot’s licence I was flying a solo cross country and had a GPS failure. I shifted to backup sectional charts and VOR navigation, thus continuing the mission. During my time at the Academy I know I can influence

My freshman year in high school I gained a valuable experience. I was appointed deputy drill commander of Dixie AFJROTC Unarmed Team, promoted ahead of, and out-performing upper-class men, creating a degree of resentment. Most importantly I had to change my approach with almost every cadet because no one is the same. I created a common vision for my team to get to, and by the end of our year our team flourished in its new environment.
In addition, I know every leader needs integrity. Although integrity cannot be taught, it can only be shown. If you are a leader without integrity no one will ever respect you. As the leader you must be the example, the person in the front, the one who not only tells you what to do, but also does it with

The Senior Leader Course (SLC) reinforced in me the true meaning General Al Gray’s Grayism, “Don’t be afraid to learn from others” (Otte, 2015). The greatest learning opportunity in SLC came from my fellow classmates and their fearlessness in sharing their personal and professional experiences. If I could transport this class back in time one year and know what I know now, I would have been better able to assist one of my Soldiers whose service was reviewed under the Army’s Qualitative Management Program (QMP). Many of my classmates impressed me with their experience, both their technical skills while deployed and their compassion for Soldiers while fulfilling their duties as senior non-commissioned officers (NCO). I learned the most from…

“Key Qualities of Leadership” Individuals involved within leadership roles can “make or break” a company. Without key qualities of leadership, an individual cannot fully provide their customers or its employees with the experiences they deserve. Without proper skills and reinforcement, leaders cannot foster a positive workforce or support their employees. Without certain key factors a leader or manager becomes just another employee, and not the leader they are required to be. Social Work with Groups course is giving me more insight to the other courses that I have taken previously and some of those that I am currently rolled in such as Social Work with Families and Community Development. After reading the textbook and the discussions in class, the theories of group counseling, viewing groups through multicultural lens, leadership qualities and functions, co-facilitator and group development stood out for me and broaden my perception into Social Work as a profession. The first thing that caught my attention this time is that, theories of counseling are also applicable to group counseling. I learned about the theories in my social work practice class last year. This show how important the theories are to me as an emerging social worker.…
