There was more than one surprise Saturday for Detroit fans after the Lions announced their final 53-man roster. Undrafted rookie Adairius Barnes who hasn’t received much attention throughout the summer and preseason was able to outplay both Alex Carter and Darrin Walls for one of the final spots on the Detroit roster.
Detroit made the decision to fill 11 of the 53 spots available with defensive linemen, but didn’t give one of them to Gabe Wright, the team’s fourth round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
While both of these choices were noticed by Lions fans, the decision to only keep four wide receivers on the roster received the most attention. The real shocker was the fact that TJ Jones wasn’t one of the four receivers who the Lions kept..

TJ Jones, Jace Billingsley, and Isaac Fruechte will all be available for promotion and the fact that Detroit doesn’t even have three defensive players on the practice squad shows the Lions know they may need an additional body or two throughout the season at the receiver position.
After spending two seasons with the team already, Jones gives the team some insurance due to being familiar with Matthew Stafford. Fruechte and Billingsley are considered great receivers who the Lions will be able to develop in the future and will more than likely only find the active roster if the Lions are in a real scrape at the position.
Because of the abilities of the receivers the Lions do have on their roster, there is a lot of shuffling around Detroit can do if there is an injury during a game. Andre Roberts, Anquan Boldin, and Golden Tate all have experience both playing on the outside and at the slot position. When you add the abilities of Marvin Jones to the mix, Detroit will have no problem switching up the roles for different formations and filling in spots as needed during a

This decision could be a sign that Eric Ebron is healthier than what Detroit has led on. Ebron will be a huge presence in the passing game for Detroit and head coach Jim Caldwell surely had this in mind when the team was making their final cuts.
Caldwell could also be planning to use Theo Riddick out of the slot this season. While most of them came out of the backfield, Riddick was able to catch 80 passes for the Lions in in 2015.
On paper, limiting themselves to four wide receivers may have looked like risky business for the Detroit Lions. However, with the personnel they had to choose from, the move could end up being another wise idea that establishes Bob Quinn as a premier general manager within the

"Two weeks ago, the Tennessee Titans selected Alabama running back Derrick Henry and offensive tackle Jack Conklin. While this backfield situation will be one to mainly avoid due to the likelihood of a RBBC, however the Titans offense as a whole should improve significantly. Dorial Green Beckham will make the greatest impact on the new, revamped Titans offense, as defenses will be forced to focus on stopping the run. The 6'6 athletic monster has the tools and massive upside to produce 8+ TD's this year as the number one receiver for Mariota."…

Pryor is somewhat at a standstill in his career, but not necessarily in a bad way. Contractually, he is on a 1-year deal, also known as the “prove it” deal. Cleveland had offered Pryor a multi-year deal, instead he turned it down thinking he’s worth more than that annually. So taking the 1-year deal here in Washington, with a better situation offensively, he’s banking on his abilities as a 3 year wide out. If his 2017 is similar or even better than his 2016 in Cleveland, the Redskins will be eager to keep Pryor in…

Without Dez Bryant, the Dallas Cowboys' offense has been crippled In hopes to improve an offense that’s struggling, the Dallas Cowboys, who’ve been snake bitten with injuries, have made a change at quarterback. Without quarterback Tony Romo, their four-time Pro Bowler and all-time franchise leading passer, the Cowboys were forced to roll with the arm of backup Brandon Weeden, after Romo fractured his left clavicle against the Eagles in Week 2. In three starts, Weeden completed 71 of 98 attempts, completing 72.4 percent of his passes. That looks sexy on paper, but with Weeden under center, Dallas’ passing game didn’t generate plays beyond intermediate distances to stretch opposing defenses for big plays.…

You cannot call the same play on the same down over and over and expect that to fool opposing defenses. if you never take a shot deep down field you are not keeping defenses honest. Even though the Cowboy's are without the NFL's best wideout, they cannot call plays like they are. Its causing multiple 3 and out's and exhausting a defense that would other wise be dominating the game. There are too many positives to give up on that Super Bowl dream we all hold near and dear to our hearts.…

Doug has missed the first 3 weeks of the year and hasn't played in a month so we should monitor his workload this week. The good news is that he has fresh legs and looks to be in TREMENDOUS shape! Winston and the Buccaneers are averaging just under 278 passing yards which is 3rd in the NFL. It could and should be a lot more but Winston's and Desean Jackson's chemistry just isn't quite where it needs to be. In the last few weeks, Winston has either underthrown or even sometimes overthrown Jackson (which I didn't think was possible).…

If you woke up Thursday morning and were freaked out by the reports that four Ohio State players had been suspended for the season opener against Virginia Tech, then you should go back to bed, lay down and take a nap, because this isn't much of a headline. First off, clearly the biggest loss is Joey Bosa, a possible number one overall pick, and the leader of the Ohio State defense. Yet, with all that being said, the Buckeyes will be able to make it out of one game without Bosa against the team receiving the twenty-ninth most votes in the Amway Coaches Poll, Virginia Tech. Adolphus Washington will likely hold down the defensive line, put he won't be without help.…
