The National Football League (NFL), which consisted of ten teams at the time, has been around since 1920. This was the start to an uphill climb to the top where it would become the most popular sport in America. The organization went through its ups and downs but never shied away from the task at hand. It fought its way through adversity and through time periods where there wasn’t hope. Where there was a world full of hate, the NFL found its way to the top. Because of this, it was able to produce an economic strong point for the United States and produce organizations to help communities. Kids look up to NFL athletes as idols and role models. This gives kids hope and faith. It may help some kids from staying out of trouble by showing them the right things to do. The kids want to be like their role model so they will not tend to do the wrong things. Also it gives kids something to work for. If they want to be like this person, they will work for it. They will do what the athletes do because in their eyes it is what is right. The athletes want the kids to follow in their footsteps to show how to be a better person. In addition, the NFL has introduced organizations to help kids get out of the house and play but also, help small organizations stay alive. Play 60 has become one of the biggest non-profit organizations in the United States that lets kids that may not want or be able to be outside, play outside and get exercise. According to NFL operations, “More than $12.5 million to nonprofit science partners to support NFL PLAY 60, an ongoing national initiative to increase the wellness of young fans. Since PLAY 60 was launched in 2007, the NFL has committed more than $300 million to youth health and fitness through programming, grants and media time for public service announcements.” The NFL has donated over $430 billion Dollars since 1973 to charity and small youth football organizations. The NFL has begun playing in Europe, Canada, and Mexico. Since 2007 the NFL has played 17 games in London, 8 times in Toronto, and 1 time in Mexico City. Because of this, it has started major discussion about expanding the league to these countries. The fan bases in London have been very promising to the NFL as a reliable city to introduce an NFL team. Toronto in Canada has a popular fan base as well mainly because of its relativity to the United States. Mexico though, has the largest fan base almost two times the size of London’s and Toronto’s. The NFL’s most trustworthy source is how the basketball league came to be and is now an Olympic sport. In basketball, 70 years ago, we were killing each people, and look at it today.
