Professional football is the most watched sport in America. From fantasy football to watching your favorite team make a comeback in the fourth quarter, professional football has been an entertaining, intense showdown that we all love to watch. But despite all of this, T.V. ratings have gone down and we do not know the reason why. But what we do know is that the ratings in other countries have not gone down. From the Raiders and Chiefs week 11 showdown in Mexico to the multiple successful games in London, the NFL is slowly expanding out of the U.S. This leaves fans not helping to wonder if another team could possibly move there. NFL expansion is so possible that many sources now call it inevitable. The NFL’s popularity is just growing and growing while starved cities for a football team’s demand is just increasing and increasing. Although NFL expansion is very possible, there still is many problems and factors to overcome, questions to be answered, and circumstances to be faced involved with adding another NFL franchise into the league. Due to scheduling problems, an odd number of NFL expansion teams would not work out. This would mean finding multiple locations for the expansion teams. Some possible locations for an expansion team include London, Germany, Toronto, Mexico City, Las Vegas, and San Antonio. Another circumstance to face involved with NFL franchises is how the team would obtain its players. One of the most realistic options include an expansion draft, which was used to form the previous expansion teams. Even though expansion drafts usually lead the team to a horrible season the first year, the new NFL franchise would get better over time. All in all, NFL expansion has many positives including its financial standpoint, but creating the team would pose many challenges as well. As long as Roger Goodell and the NFL can overcome these challenges, the positivity, possibility and inevitability of NFL expansion will be endless. Another NFL team would most likely be added to the league.
