The short-lived organization is largely considered a failure, creating more problems than it solved due to mismanagement, corruption, and infighting (The National Recovery Administration). Lemna Case Study

Lemna is a free- floating aquatic plant from the duckweed family, that consists of small, individual thalli (Tkalec et.al, 2001). Lemna are small, fast growing plants and they develop dense mats on ponds, especially when enough light and nutrients are available (Gérard et.al, 2014). Salt is the most toxic substance, as it causes an inhibition of plant growth and a decrease in nutrient uptake (Chang et.al, 2012). Salt stress induces the production of abscisic acid (ABA), a plant stress hormone, which closes stomata when transported to guard cells, and, in turn, results in the decline of photosynthesis (Chang et.al, 2012). Inappropriate irrigation, industrial discharge, biological waste decomposition, and surface runoff can cause increased levels…

the current study, the effect of nilotinib, a marketed drug used by human beings that has a well-defined safety profile, was investigated on APAP-induced hepatotoxicity in mice. Nilotinib treatments for mice were found to protect against APAP-induced liver injury as indicated by decreasing the elevated levels of serum ALT, AST, LDH and GGT activities. The protective effect exerted by nilotinib against APAP-induced liver injury was further confirmed histopathologically by preventing APAP-induced necrosis in centrilobular areas of the liver. An important mechanism for inhibiting APAP hepatotoxicity by nilotinib, especially at a dose of 25 mg/kg, was the stimulation of hepatic GSH synthesis and its related enzymes, which augmented the detoxification…

    4. Discussion ZnO NPs are known to be cytotoxic and genotoxic in vitro and in vivo [9; 24-26]. However there is a lack of information where immunomodulatory effects of ZnO NPs are considered. Since, in vitro system cannot mimic the complexity of an in vivo system; hence in vivo is preferred for the toxicological evaluation. In the present study BALB/c mice were chosen as the in vivo model due to their immunocompetence and similarity with human metabolic activity, biochemical and physiological pathways [27].…
