NEO-IP-R Personality Assessment

Improved Essays
After taking the NEO-IP-R Personality Test, I concluded that the test was fairly accurate assessment of my personality, and it confirmed what I believe my personality to be. There were five factors and some sub-facets on each factor, which I am going to discuss whether or not I agree or disagree with each factor. The first category is Extraversion. I scored in the average numbers, with the description that I am neither a subdued loner nor a jovial chatterbox (IPIP-NEO). I would agree with this assessment. While I am somewhat enthusiastic, and action-oriented person, sometimes I tend to be quiet and low-key, and deliberate individual. I see myself as an ambivert person, which means a person who has a balance of extrovert and introvert features …show more content…
I scored in the lower numbers, indicating that I am less concern with others’ needs than my own, and people see me as a tough, critical, and uncompromising person (IPIP-NEO). I do not agree with the result, because it contradicts to what I believe my personality to be. I always see myself willing to compromise my interests with others. I will also generally assist those who are in need, be considerate, friendly, and get along well with them. I also scored low in sympathy, and I do not agree with that. I believe that I have a natural affinity for empathy and sympathizing with others. I can feel the pain of others vicariously, and often easily moved to pity. For example, when I see a homeless on the roadside, it is very heartbreaking for me. I always want to help them, even if I can just give them some pennies that I have. However, I agree with some assessments on the other sub-traits. I scored high in trust, one of the sub-traits in agreeableness. To illustrate, I always trust people easily, even strangers or persons that I do not really know. I consistently assume that most people are fair, honest, and have good …show more content…
I scored in the higher numbers in this category, and therefore it said that I am well-organized, reliable, self-controlled, and perceived as an intelligent person by others I agree with this assessment, since all my friends often tell me that I am a very organize person. Moreover, I also agree with the negative side of being a conscientious individual. My family and friends know that I am perfectionist person. I am always striving for flawlessness and setting high performance standards, I also often concerns regarding others' evaluations. On the sub-traits, I scored high in the orderliness, means that I am well-organized, and I like to live according to routines and schedules (IPIP-NEO). It is very true, because I like to keep lists and make plans. I also consistently make my own schedules for all my activities, assignments due, and exams days in a particular month. Furthermore, I also scored high in dutifulness, and I agree with it. Dutifulness reflects the strength of a person’s sense of duty and obligation, and those who score high on this scale have a strong sense of moral obligation (IPIP-NEO). I consider myself as a person who tend to obey the rules, and I always feel bad every time I do not follow the things that I obligated

The second personality trait of the five is agreeableness. This gives the person attributes of being kind to others, selfless, outgoing, as well as trusting of others. It has also been shown that the level of agreeableness one has can be correlated to predict exam scores (Komarraju, 2011). A pro of this trait is that one is seen as having the best interests of others in mind, but a con of this is that it can become easy to be taken advantage of due to the amount of selflessness one…
